Relief, what should I do?

In 2011, this year has come to an end and the second Sunday of December has arrived. At the end of the year, we are giving thanks for God's grace for protecting us throughout the year and thinking of our neighbors in need around us. How was salvation done in the days of Jesus? How can we give alms to God and to bless us who participate in it? The purpose of the homily is here.

1. Relief must be done with good motives.

Motivation is important when doing something. What is your motive? Because God wants to see your heart. When people do or give something, they want to brag about it and have a high expectation that they want to be recognized. I want people to recognize me and the church to recognize me, and if I don't recognize it, I feel upset. However, you must know that if you do not overcome this test and boast of your own righteousness, you will not receive a reward from God. Therefore, I bless you in the name of the Lord that you may give relief with good motives.

2. Relief must be done without blowing the trumpet.

Blowing the trumpet symbolizes intentionally announcing, boasting, revealing, or showing of giving. Then, is it right to do all the relief without knowing it? I don't think it's meant to make sure nobody knows. Jesus also preached in front of people. Jesus also performed miracles in front of people. He healed people in front of people. But Jesus did it only for the glory of the Father. Of course, when we do righteousness, we must be wise so that the person receiving the alms will not be ashamed. But just because people have no choice but to see is no reason to stop bailing out.

It is not salvation if people do it if they see it, and people do not do it if they don't see it. Because the motives are impure. There is no reward in the sight of God. The motive for salvation must be pure. I hope that you do not blow the trumpet for the sake of pure motives, the glory of God, but I bless you in the name of the Lord.

3. Relief must be done in secret.

The one who gives is that he should not show himself and boast of his righteousness. It is said that it is okay to represent the church and to show the glory of God. However, we interpret the word “let your almsgiving in secret” literally, thinking that showing alms or good deeds is hypocrisy and must be hidden unconditionally. It is not uncommon to see losses as if they were not. So, what is important is not my name, but the name of the church, and God's name only needs to appear. He gave the righteous to inherit the Father's kingdom and to enter eternal life, but those on the left, the cursed ones, enter into eternal fire.

Let us all cast aside our hearts of disobedience and hypocrisy and

In the name of the Lord, I bless all the saints who give alms at this time of year 2011 so that they can receive the heavenly reward with the belief that what they did to our neighbors with a good stewardship heart, they did to Jesus.

Dear Seongsan Family! Jesus said. How do I get relief? Relief must be done with good motives. Relief must be done without blowing the trumpet. Salvation must be done in secret. I pray in the name of the Lord that the glory of God will be revealed through giving alms.
