Title Remember Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 2:8)

Content Remember Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 2:8)

< Introduction >

Ex) Candidate's Prayer - Pray that you will remember everything you have learned.

If you can remember what you have learned, you will pass all the college exams.

But on the other hand, there are times when I keep thinking of things I wish I hadn't thought of.

Painful memories of the past, grudges, wounds, etc.

Here we can see that there are things to remember and things not to remember.

But how can you artificially prevent the memory from being recalled?

It will be more important not to just forget what should not be forgotten.

< Body >

1. The word memory in the Bible

In the Old Testament, in Psalm 119:49, the verb jakhar is used in the phrase, "Remember your words to your servant, for you have given me hope." '. In addition, several verbs were used in the Old Testament.

Here, we must especially remember that all these terms are used not only as simple memories or thoughts, but also as the cause of realizing problems and errors in reality and making new decisions through memories and thoughts.

Ex) The Israelites, who did not listen to the warnings (destruction of the nation) from the prophets in Ezekiel 6:7-10, Mic 6:5, etc., remembered the prophets' prophecies and realized anew only in the midst of destruction.

Even in the New Testament, memory appears not as a simple mental action, but as an attitude of life applied to reality.

Ex) Disciples after Resurrection - vividly remember the words of Jesus and appear as the coordinates of life and attitude of life
