Title Repeated Mistakes and God's Help / Genesis 20

Content 1. Words that begin

No matter how loud a person is, mistakes are made, and no matter how talented a person is, they will fail. In fact, human beings are finite creatures, so they can make mistakes or make mistakes. Therefore, we, who believe in God the Almighty Creator, should not be proud, on the other hand, should not be self-deprecating or shameful because of our mistakes or failures. Rather, you should be careful not to fall over again on a stone that you have tripped over.

A person who stumbles twice or three times over and over on a stone that has stumbled once is truly a fool. But the reality is that there are too many foolish people like this. A person who is offended by being good at rage is often more and more frustrated by the rage. A person who has been disgraced because of his pretense is often disgraced because of his pretense. However, when a wise person sees a stone that others have stumbled upon, he either avoids it or jumps over it.

2. Abraham's Mistake

Abraham left Mamre, where he had lived for a long time, and lived in Gerar, calling his wife Sarah his sister. Abraham, who had been walking with God, was now seized with anxiety and fear as he lost interest in his new environment and surroundings. So, out of the despicable thought that he had to live on his own no matter what, he called his wife his sister to strangers. Once I started thinking about myself instead of thinking of faith, I came to the conclusion that the most important condition for a crisis was the loveable companion that I have never had. What an absurd and surprising change indeed. Just as if you put on the first button incorrectly, you will also get all the other buttons wrong, so your self-centered thoughts apart from God will continue to go wrong. Not only that, but at least for that person, it's a very logical and rational thought.

However, in reality, there was no crisis for Abraham, nor did his wife Sarah change his mind. Nor did the Gentiles come in with weapons to take away Sarah, their wife. Moreover, God's love and power have never changed. The problem was himself. The fear of the people around him and the mean and selfish thought of living alone led to serious misfortune. He still had to think of God.

When King Gerar heard that Sarah was Abraham's sister, he did not hesitate to send and take Sarah away. Abraham succumbed to his schemes. So how hard would it be? Thinking of your lost wife, or thinking of yourself with your best hair, how miserable must it be? That's right. Thinking for your own safety and self-interest is not only to harass other people, but also to cause yourself to suffer anguish and humiliation.

In fact, this mistake of Abraham and the suffering it caused is second to none. According to Genesis 12:10 and below, Abraham, who encountered famine, went into Egypt to rely on God instead of trusting and relying on God, and he told his wife Sarah, "Call me sister." In the end, there was a time when my wife was taken away by the king of Egypt, but at the last moment, with God's help, I got it back.

Abraham fell twice on the same stone. The stone was a deceitful act for his own safety. In other words, it was not the thoughts and actions of faith, but the thoughts and actions of selfishness.

In recent years, major accidents have occurred frequently in our country. Huge numbers of people were injured and killed in horrific accidents in the sky and the earth, in rivers and seas, and in the ground. I can't help but feel more mourning and anger at the fact that he was a talented person, not a genius. All those major accidents have fallen over and over again on the same stone of carelessness, golden omnipotence, disregard for human life and irresponsibility.

3. A God who always helps

Even though Abraham made the mistake of falling over the same stone twice, God's love still does not change. However, God did not immediately help Abraham, who was terribly miserable. Through excruciating pain, he gave up unbelief and base selfish thoughts and left him to trust and depend only on God. At the end of the night when Abraham's heartache reached its peak, God appeared in a dream and spoke to Abimelech, who had taken Sarah. "You will die for this woman you have taken, for she is a man's wife." Abimelech, who had not yet approached Sarah, said, "Lord, do you also destroy the righteous people? Didn't he say to me, "This is my sister?" This is how you did it,??he said.

Abimelech, who knew God through the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, excuses his pure motives and innocence. If so, Abraham is responsible for letting others fall into sinful feelings and sinful temptations. There are people who have a motive for sin and corruption in others. Some are motivated by anger, despair, and distrust. Some are even motivated by hatred and murder. Everyone, I hope that you will always be a motivator of joy and hope for others. Hebrews 13:17 says, ?e obedient to those who lead you and be submissive, for they watch for your souls as they are accountants. Let them do this with joy, and not with sorrow; otherwise, you of no benefit to them."

Hearing Abimelech's excuse, God said, "I also knew that you did this with a complete heart, so I stopped you from sinning against me, for this is why I kept you from coming close to a woman."

Among the grace of God, grace is the grace of forgiveness of sins. However, please believe that the grace that prevents sin is no less than that. God allows sinners who don't like you to commit all kinds of sins, but He always stops the righteous from committing sins.

God, who had prevented Abimelech's crime, said to him, "Return the wife of Abraham, my prophet. He will pray for you, and you will live. If you do not return him, you and all who belong to you will surely die." You said. In verse 8, it is said that Abimelech, who was exhausted, got up early in the morning, called all his servants, and told them what had happened, and all his servants were afraid.

Despite the mistakes of His prophet Abraham, God helped him after enlightening him, and still maintained a special relationship. In particular, God gave great significance to the intercession of His servant Abraham.

4. Conclusion

Like Abraham, even a person with a personality of faith makes mistakes, and even a person with great abilities sometimes fails. In fact, human beings are finite creatures, so they can make mistakes or make mistakes. Therefore, we, who believe in God the Almighty Creator, should not be proud, on the other hand, should not be self-deprecating or shameful because of our mistakes or failures. Rather, you should be careful not to fall twice on a stone that you have tripped over. Even if you fall repeatedly, if you believe in God and seek Him, God will surely lift you up.
