Title River of Living Water [John 7:37-39]
Content River of living water [John 7:37-39]
There are many records of water in the Bible. It is said that God created the land and the sea even when he created the heavens and the earth. Also, 70% of our body is made up of water. So, people quench their thirst and quench their thirst through this water. In addition, all living things also absorb moisture through water and grow. If there was no water on this earth, the extension of life would not have been possible. So, God has given us water.
In verses 37 and 38 we read, “On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, saying, If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Bible says, out of his belly will flow rivers of living water.” You can drink water when you are physically thirsty, but what should you drink when you are spiritually thirsty?
First, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit.
“He spoke of the Holy Spirit, which those who believe in Him will receive” (John 7:39). When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, our soul's thirst is quenched. Please believe that it will remove the sorrow, anguish, pain, anxiety, and all pessimism from the heart. When Jesus said to the Suga woman, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again” is that even if you enjoy and enjoy the world’s riches and glory, honor, authority, pleasure, and entertainment, your spiritual thirst will not be quenched. A person's spiritual thirst cannot be quenched by the improvement of external conditions. No matter how much good water you drink, no matter how much entertainment you have and rest, and no matter how much money you have and you have everything you want, there is one thing that cannot be satisfied, which is man's spiritual thirst. Man's spiritual thirst, created as a spiritual being, can only be satisfied with spiritual things. Foolish people try to solve this problem by serving idols other than God, but it only gets worse. Only the Holy Spirit becomes a river of living water that flows from within, and fundamentally quenches man's spiritual thirst.
When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you will have confidence in everything in your life, you will be happy and joyful, and you will feel rewarded in your work. When a person is upset, good music is like a chirping sound, when a good person comes in like a thief, eating good food is like chewing sand, no matter how good clothes they wear, everything is cumbersome, and they give up on everything. Gentlemen, there is no despair or frustration in life like giving up. There is something that refreshes us every day and gives us wisdom for a new life, and this is the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is our Comforter (John 14:26). ‘Comforter’ means ‘comfort, help, be together’ So, when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, we are immediately comforted, all yokes of the flesh are removed, and we are set free spiritually.
I hope that no one should quench the Holy Spirit, and if it is extinguished, it will be restored, and those who have not received the Holy Spirit pray, ‘Lord, give me the fire of the Holy Spirit as well.’ You can experience the Holy Spirit when you listen to the Word, when you yearn for it, when you welcome it, when you pray, and when you sing. Therefore, the more people who have received the Holy Spirit, the more the church will revive, and the more people who have received the Holy Spirit, the more they become missionaries of God. Acts 6:3 says, “Brothers, choose from among you seven men of praise, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom.”
Second, we must serve God with joy and a joyful heart.
“Because you have not served the LORD your God with joy and gladness, though you have plenty, you will serve the enemy the LORD will send to strike you in the midst of hunger and thirst and nakedness and need of all things, and he will put an iron yoke on your neck. and will eventually destroy you.” (Deuteronomy 28:47,48) People often say that when they are lazy and squander their possessions, they become poor and needy. But the Bible tells us that if we do not serve God with joy and a joyful heart, we will hunger, thirst, and be naked, and all things will be in need. Please think about this in the opposite direction. If we serve God with joy and joy, we will not hunger, thirst, or be naked and have abundance.
Where the Holy Spirit works, there can be no poverty, no sorrow, no failure. The Holy Spirit is our infinite energy. Oil is not the only energy. Wealth is not just energy. Health is not the only energy. Wisdom is not the only energy. Territory is not the only energy. The greater energy than all of this is the Holy Spirit. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit in every field of your life, it will help you in your life with full energy. When we truly serve God with joy and a joyful heart, please believe that God will perform wonderful miracles.
The church is like a banquet hall. The church is not a gathering place for the righteous. It is a place where sinners are gathered and made righteous. It is a place that gathers failures and makes them successful. It is a place where you can experience the power of gathering the sick and making them healthy. It is a heavenly place where the lazy become loyal, the useless become useful, the outcast become drunk, and the lonely and lonely find joy. The church, like a banquet hall, is a gathering place, not a scattering place. It should be a church that gathers like a cloud rather than shrinking. We must proclaim this gospel until the nation is evangelized and the human race of the world is evangelized. We have to go wherever we go with this gospel. When we always serve God with joy and joy, and pray, sing, and give thanks, rivers of living water overflow.
Third, we must come to Jesus.
“On the last day of the feast, on the great day, Jesus stood and cried and said, If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink” (John 7:37). The thirst of the soul refers to the lack of grace that comes from severing our relationship with God. Human beings are beings created in the image of God, and can only live in satisfaction when they have intimate fellowship with God who made them and receive grace from him. However, after the sin of Adam, the spiritual relationship between man and God was cut off. So you can only feel the thirst of the soul. Jesus is the only one who can quench the spiritual thirst inside man. Because by dying as a propitiation on the cross, He restored the broken relationship between God and man. So please believe that the thirst of the soul is quenched only when we come to Jesus.
When the Lord asks us to come toward us, please do not delay at all and come before the Lord. Jesus does not reveal and rebuke your sins, He heals and cleanses you. It is said that repented sins are not remembered (Isaiah 43:25). The Lord said that He did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32). God stood farther than the Pharisees, who believed in themselves righteous and despised others, and did not dare lift up their eyes to look up to heaven, but beat their breasts and said, “God, have mercy on me. He was more pleased with the tax collector who confessed, “I am a sinner” (Luke 18:13). He also loved him and embraced him. elevated him. Therefore, we must always live with the Lord in all of our lives. If the Lord exists, then there is already a river of living water. If you serve the Lord, you will be rich. If you serve the Lord, you will have health.
Isaiah 55:1 says, “You who thirst, come to the waters. Come even those who have no money. Come and buy and eat; come and buy wine and milk without money and without price.” Come those who are thirsty, those who are heavy laden, and those who have left their homes like prodigals and prodigal. “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden. I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28) You must come to the Lord to receive His help. “I will give you rest” here means that the Lord will bear all the heavy burdens and take the responsibility. The Lord is our friend, our solver, our eternal shepherd, our life, and our Savior. So I came before the Lord and told him to come and drink living water without money and without price.
John 15:4,5 says, “Remain in me. I will abide in you. … apart from me you can do nothing.” Apart from Jesus, not only can we do nothing, but life without Jesus is in vain, and all hope without Jesus will go bankrupt. There is no failure in Jesus. That is why the Lord always said, “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish. and it will be done” (John 15:7). When you do what you do right now, motivation such as how much skill and experience I have, whether the conditions are good, and whether I have a good relationship with my business partner is important, but more importantly, whether I am in Jesus now, or am I working with Jesus now? is. If you are in Jesus, start by praying for anything. But if you do not have confidence in Jesus, first choose the path of faith in Jesus and pray. Even though I am weak, the Lord is strong, I am foolish but the Lord is wise, I am insignificant but the Lord is worthy, and rivers of living water overflow.
Dear saints, Do you have a thirst for soul? I pray in the name of the Lord that you will receive the filling of the Holy Spirit, serve God with joy and joy, come to Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and the life, and live with the Lord, experiencing the overflowing river of living water. .
