Title: Attitude to win the test

Text: (James 1:1~11)

Hymns: 539. you go quietly to jesus

Date: April 24, 2011 (Sunday) 5 am (Easter Sunday)

Venue: Jeonju Yebut Church Small Worship Room

Departure does not mean that everyone arrives at their destination. Many people give up halfway or go the wrong way. The reason you can't reach your destination is because you meet many obstacles along the way. There are obstacles in life's journey. What attitude should we have when we encounter obstacles?

1. Rejoice in it (verse 2)

In this verse, temptation refers to external persecution and trials. Whether a test is or not is determined by the attitude of the person being tested. God teaches us that there is no need to evade or fear temptation. Rather, he tells us to rejoice when we are tested. This is because, ultimately, through the test, our spirit and body will be perfected and we will become people who do not lack anything. We learn to persevere in the midst of temptation, and in the process of perseverance we can attain perfection. If you have patience and trust in God who will give you the final victory, the test you are going through now will be a beautiful memory and a title of thanks. Are you on an exam? Please take it with joy.

2. Seek wisdom ((v. 5)

Passing the test does not make everyone perfect. Some people get hurt and hardened during trials. But we can learn perfect patience in the midst of temptation. It is the patience that makes character and faith mature, and the patience that turns evil into good. Perseverance requires wisdom. That wisdom does not come from man, but from heaven. When we ask for wisdom to overcome temptation, God does not turn away from that request. Pray for strength and the means to endure to the end without compromise when you are under trial. When you ask God, do not doubt what He will give you. God does not rebuke us when we ask for wisdom, but He will give us abundantly and abundantly. May you win with the wisdom God gives you.

3. Hope for eternity (verses 9-11)

At first glance, the rich seem happy and the poor seem unhappy. A person in a high position seems strong, and a person in a low position seems weak. But the true value and happiness of life are not determined by what you see. What you see is like a fog, and it's just a temporary thing that disappears when the wind blows. In (verse 9), the word ‘exalted’ refers to the dignity and worth of the saints renewed in the truth (Christ). The pure and true self that has passed through hardship and has been filtered through refinement is the essence of true happiness. We must hope for this self. This is the purpose of faith and the vision that believers should pursue. Are we now seeking the invisible and eternal?

Those who give up or compromise halfway on the journey of faith are reluctant or fearful of trials. But if you pass the ordeal right, your soul and life will be stronger. I hope you have patience today with this hope. And I bless you with the wisdom that God gives you.

<Prayer>

1. With the wisdom you give me, help me to overcome all the trials of life!

2. May the joy and grace of the Resurrection be filled with all Sunday worship!

3. Fill the weak with resurrection life!
