Faith in the Resurrection (Acts 5:33-42)
Hallelujah! To all who attended the Easter service in 2009, I sincerely hope that you will experience the joy, hope, and amazing change that the resurrected Jesus was trying to give us through his resurrection.
If you think about it, even when Jesus died on the cross, Peter, who claimed to be the first of the twelve, not only denied knowing Jesus three times, but also because Jesus died at that time. Jesus rose from the dead on the third day and appeared to Peter and his disciples. And they met the resurrected Jesus several times. Still, one day Peter said, 'Oh no. There is a record in the Bible that when I got up and said, ‘I will go back to my hometown and eat meat again. Even though they had clearly seen and met Jesus from the resurrection, they still turned their backs on him and tumbled down to their hometown. Shortly after that, in Acts 5, which we read today, we can see the disciples who were completely different from Peter, who was completely different. The situation is not easy to understand.
As we celebrate Easter 2009, we are going to choose this text and share this message today. What we need to pay attention to today is not the event of the resurrection of Jesus, but rather that we have faith in the resurrection of Jesus. Even the disciples who had seen and met Jesus' resurrection event had no change in their lives when the faith of the resurrection did not settle in their hearts. will be Therefore, today, through this worship service, we do not remember the events of Jesus Christ, but we earnestly pray that the faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ will spring up in your hearts.
When Jesus was resurrected and appeared before His disciples, in John 20:19, He said, “Peace be with you.” He also said, “As he breathed out again, he said, Receive the Holy Spirit.” The disciples probably didn't know what it meant back then, but if we read the Bible today, Jesus said, 'Peace be with you' in that scene, and while breathing in and exhaling, 'Receive the Holy Spirit' It will give you a vague idea of what this means. The event of the resurrection, there are many people who are interested in the event of the resurrection where Jesus rose again if you happen to be on Easter.
At the same time, the amazing faith in Jesus that was latent because of the hot coming of the Holy Spirit and the help of those who had not yet truly confessed that Jesus was the Christ by dying on the cross was God's confession that he was the Christ. It means that the Holy Spirit has given you a shock and an impression that will happen like a fire. Therefore, the disciples of Jesus followed Jesus for 3 years, but some of you, some of you, have believed in Jesus for 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, 40 years, 50 years. Many of the words of the Bible that you have heard through the sermons, the lessons about Jesus that you have heard through the Bible, and everything you know about Jesus must have been accumulated in you. I earnestly pray that the common sense and knowledge about the event that has already been accumulated in you by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit can become the faith of the Resurrection by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
Faith in the resurrection is important. Every year we have an Easter service. This Easter service is not a commemorative event to commemorate the historical event that Jesus died and rose again. If it is a commemorative event for that event, it means nothing to us. However, I hope you all remember that this is a worship and an event that resurrects the amazing resurrection faith in us, and a place where our earnest wishes come true. Today, through this worship service, we do not simply remember and commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but our little faiths that have been accumulating and accumulating in me are gathered together, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, the resurrection faith is earnestly in you. Congratulations.
