Title Revelation 2:1~7 Keep Your First Love

Contents

Revelation 2:1-7 Keep the first love Topic: 20. belief. 2006. 5. 28.

Introduction

: The great message of Christ to the 7 churches in Asia begins with the church in Ephesus.

It is written so that you can know what will happen in the last days for all servants and followers of Jesus Christ in all the churches.

The seven churches represent all churches, and the characteristics of each church represent other churches. Messages are given for personal application.

The first message is

: The Ephesian church was an orthodox church and was faithful to Christ and the word of God, but it was a church without love.

1. Christ Speaks (1)

2. Praise (2~3)

3. Rebuke (4)

4. Recommendations. Warning (5-6)

5. Promise(7)

1. Christ Speaks (1)

One). Recipient: church and minister - meaning that the minister is considered responsible for the condition of the church

2). Ephesus: The most important location as a coastal city, a city built to connect with important highways in Asia

Ephesus was ① a huge commercial city ② had a weak start ③ He performed special miracles.

Ephesus was a hotbed of Eastern magic and superstition.

: Citizens were ① emotional and lewd and easily moved by emotions.

② He was a devoted, self-expressive, affectionate and loving citizen (4)

3). Christ said

① Jesus Christ holds the ministers of the church in his right hand.

② Jesus Christ is the one who walks in the middle of the golden candlestick.

2. Praise (2~3)

One). He did and labored for Christ. (Matthew 25:35-36, 5:16, 1 Timothy 6:18, Hebrews 13:16)

To work hard (Hell): It means to work hard to the extent of exhaustion, sweat, and exhaustion, to the limit of one's ability.

2). endured. (1 Corinthians 15:58, Luke 21:19, Hebrews 10:36, James 1:2-4, 12, 5:7)

He endured to the end in serving Christ and in all trials and trials of life, and he did not waver.

The church in Ephesus was unwavering in researching and proclaiming the gospel and meeting the needs of the poor.

3). I did not tolerate the wicked, (sin and evil, corruption and pollution, living for the world)

(Matthew 5:8, 2 Corinthians 6:17-18, 2 Corinthians 7:1, Ephesians 5:11, 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 2 Timothy 3:17, Hebrews 12:14, 2 Peter 3:11, ....)

4). All preachers and teachers were tested, and the liars were revealed and rejected.

If he was ignorant that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, he could not teach (1 John 4:1~3)

5). I endured all things for the sake of the name of Christ.

① Doing:  Persevered.  Patience endured  Toiled  Not lazy.

② Endurance:  Worked with sweat until exhaustion  Persevered patiently.

Do not tolerate evil  Reject false teachers by testing them

(Matthew 10:22, 39, 19:29, Acts 9:16, 1 Corinthians 4:10, 2 Corinthians 4:1, 16, 11, 12:10, 1 Tim. 6:11-12, Titus 2:7)

3. Rebuke (4) - I gave up my first love.

One). I lost my feelings for Christ. (Not taking first place in their lives)

They valued themselves (the church) and their work (events, worship, ministry, fellowship, etc.) as the most important.

① They had no personal communion with Christ.

② He did not love Christ in the sense that he did not take time out to pray.

(Matthew 24:12, John 14:23, 16:27, Ephesians 6:24, 1 Pet 1:8, Revelation 3:20, Jer 2:2)

2). I lost my love for people. (John 13:34-35, 15:12, Romans 12:9, 1 Corinthians 1:10, 3:3, 1 Peter 1:12)

I saw divisions in friendship and love (criticism, resentment, envy, selfishness, etc.)

4. Recommendations. warning. (5-6)

One). Recommendation (5)

The recommendation is “Come back”. : Step 3 to return

(1) Remember where you fell.

* Let's look back on our first love for the Lord - remember His presence.

(2) You must repent

* Everything that turned us away from Christ (turning away from our hearts and minds)

(Matthew 3:2, 5:4, Luke 13:3, Acts 2:38, 3:19, 8:22, 17:30, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Isaiah 55:7)

(3) We must do what we did in the beginning.

2). Warning (5-6)

(1) Warning “He will remove the candlestick (church) from its place”

* Not the true church, → transferred to the false church

* Not a part of the kingdom of God → transferred to a part of the kingdom of the world

* Instead of coming into contact and union with Christ, → moving into contact and union with the world.

* Not a witness of light to the world → A false light and witness to the world

* Not in the presence of Christ and in his light, but in the darkness of this world.

* Not the Church of the True Gospel → Moved to the Church of the False Gospel

(2) Warns that “doctrinal purity alone is not enough”

* Pointing out the errors (doctrine) of the Nicolaitans - Keeping doctrinal purity (Matthew 5:17)

* Things to think about - There is no evidence of self-denial, self-sacrifice (everything you have).

The Ephesian church pointed out the errors of the Nicolaitans, preached and taught, and did not allow those errors to enter the church (doctrinal purity).

They stood firm for the truth of Christ and for the Word of God. But they had forgotten the love of Christ (they lacked love for Christ).

5. Promise (7)

The one who wins is the one who fights and wins and wins

One). Those who overcome are permitted to eat from the tree of life.

It is the tree of God and the tree that gives abundant and eternal life (Restoration of Eden)

(Genesis 2:9, 3:22, Proverbs 3:18, 11:30, Ezekiel 47:7,12, Revelation 2:7, 22:2, John 6:51, Isaiah 55:2,)

2). He who overcomes will be a citizen of God's paradise (Luke 16:23, 23:43, 2 Corinthians 12:4, Revelation 2:7)

Heaven is eternal. A place of blessing and joy

A place of perfection and life

A place of fulfillment and completion

A place of love and joy

place of peace and rule

A place to work and have fun

place of duty and glory

A place of service and satisfaction
