Sermons for Preaching

title right and left

right and left

main text; Luke 23:39-43

Let's look at Matthew 25:31-46 together.

In the Bible, the right side is always understood as the seat of goodness, glory, and life (Ex 15:6, 1 Kings 2:19, Psalm 45:4), whereas the left side is always understood as the place of ominous, dark, curses and death.( Judges 3:15, 2 Samuel 20:9, 10) Therefore, standing at the right hand of Christ at the Last Judgment means entering into the glory and eternal life of God, while standing at the left means entering into eternal destruction and punishment. .

“The righteous understand the needs of the poor, but the wicked have no knowledge” (Proverbs 29:7). Let us love those around us as we loved. Let's help those around us without thinking of our own merits, whether or not someone recognizes them. And let's make these good deeds a habit. 'The heart of a wise man is on the right, and the heart of a fool is on the left' (Ecclesiastes 10:2).

Those who met Jesus are divided into two types. Like a thief, they criticize and ridicule Jesus, or they confess Jesus as Lord and receive the promise of living a new life. A new world is opened according to the words of Jesus' promise. First of all, the believers of our faith who realized that they should be able to feel sorry for those who do not know the eternal world and share the word of the Lord. Sometimes with our mouths, sometimes with warm eyes and kind words, sometimes with loving gestures and walks, we have to show the great secret. Although we cannot see it now, Jesus tells us to live with the hope of eternal life.

We must choose. Before us lies the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked, on the right and on the left, the narrow gate and the wide gate.

“Enter through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many go in by it, and narrow is the gate and stray is the way that leads to life, and few find it” (Matthew 7:13, 14).

Saints, where do you think you will stand on that day on your right or your left? I hope that everyone will be on the right. To stand on the right hand is first to love God and neighbor. Second, it refers to seeing the world with clean and pure eyes and a positive point of view. Third, it refers to serving the world from a lowly position. And it means being on God's side. I pray that you and I will stand on the right hand side and receive God's grace and blessings.

* Prayer: Righteous God, I read that in the last days, just as sheep and goats are separated, the sheep will be placed on the right hand and the goats on the left. Forgive us for our foolishness of not being able to hear or understand even though we hear the word. Open the eyes of our souls who cling to earthly things. Like the robber who was by your side, make me think of today as the last eschatological moment. Do not stay in darkness any longer, and now repent and become a blessed person who goes out with determination. May we not belong to darkness and death, but to stand on the side of light and love and eternal life. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen
