Title [Rodem Tree] Protestant 2009

Methodism, Salvation Army, Lutheranism, Holiness Church, Presbyterian Church, Pentecostalism, Baptist, etc. are called Protestant, or ‘Protestant’. “Protest” means resistance, and “Protestant” means resistance. Protestantism, then, is a gathering of protesters. Why did Protestants use such a tense term? After the 16th century, Western thought was dominated by the Reformation. The Reformation was based on the theory of purgatory and the issuance of indulgences for the construction of St. Peter's Cathedral. It was a joint venture between the Borgia and the Medici, the families of the popes at the time.
There was also resistance to the authority of the Pope and to the traditions of the Church, which were superior to or equivalent to the Bible. The epochal achievement of the Reformation was to return to the Bible. With the Reformation, the Latin Bible was translated into German and English, and today we can freely read the Bible in Korean. However, it is worth paying attention to the fact that the Reformation in the 16th century occurred at a time when Christianity was considered to be in its own stable period. Early Christianity faced many difficulties. Conflict with Judaism, the emergence of heresy, and the persecution of the Roman Empire. However, in the peaceful period of the Middle Ages, when Christianity was officially recognized in the Roman Empire and became the state religion, the power of the Holy See was enormous.
At that time, the church only had a Latin Bible. For this reason, ordinary lay people could neither approach nor read the Bible. The Bible was reserved only for the clergy. For this reason, the lay faithful had no choice but to listen to the word and will of God only as the priests taught them.
However, through the Reformation of Luther, a priest who was well versed in the Bible at the time, anyone could read the Bible. Then the saints began to wake up. Anyone can come before God and be illuminated by the Word. Also, the Bible has made many people truly free. Because the Bible is the living and working Word of God.
When you are at peace, you should be more tense. David prayed to God even when he was going through many hardships while avoiding Saul, but he prayed even more when he became king of all 12 tribes and settled in Jerusalem in peace. Seeing the ark of God that was moving around at that time, it was heartbreaking to think that only he could live in peace in the royal palace. So they asked if it was God's will for the ark to be placed in the temple. God was pleased with David's heart. And David was recognized by God as “My servant David.”
2009 is one month away. Looking back on the past year, I am grateful. The peace that God has given me is overflowing and overflowing. Also, if you think about the Korean church over the past 125 years, today's peace is like a dream.
But in 2009, I think about the pro test again. Is there really nothing against us? How Biblical We Are In the meantime, we will have to look at whether the church tradition has not been given precedence over the Bible, and whether the sermons resounding from the pulpit have not been reduced to cheap grace. You will have to be nervous and reflect on whether you have gone too far to have to go back to the Bible.
