Title [Romans 8:31-39] God's Love
Text: Romans 8:31-39
Title: God's Love
Today is Holy Week. Passion Sunday is a Sunday to commemorate and give thanks to Jesus' suffering. The Lord gave up all the glory of heaven, took on a low and lowly human body, began a life of suffering when He came into the world, and ended His suffering by being crucified and buried in a tomb. In particular, through the blood shed at the culmination of suffering, all our sins were forgiven and we were called righteous, and we became children of God who possessed the eternal kingdom of heaven. There is no greater grace and blessing than this. We can see that all of this is the result of God's ultimate love for us. Paul introduces this love of God in the text and reveals the benefits of that love.
1. He said that there is no one who can be against us (31).
“Then what shall we say about this? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (31). The suffering of the Lord is proof that He is for us. Even if the whole world turns away from us, God is for us. The Almighty God gives for us, who dares to be our enemy? That's why Paul said, "But in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." With this confidence, we hope that we will be victorious in all battles, both spiritually and physically, with the help of the Lord.
2. We are not condemned (33-34).
Our greatest misfortune is to be condemned. Even in the world, if you are branded as a sinner, you are unhappy because everyone will turn away from you, but if you are condemned before God, you will face the greatest misfortune because you will be punished in hell. But because the blood of Jesus washed away all our sins, no one can condemn anyone. We need to know that the blood of Jesus freed all who believe and repent in this way from condemnation. We must no longer be enslaved by sin.
Satan will continue to condemn us and make us doubt the Atonement. I hope you will remember these words every time and boldly reject them. We want to be sure that we are children of God who have already been justified, and to live a life of gratitude and glory at all times.
3. It is said that we will receive abundantly everything we need and enjoy it (32).
