Sardis Church

Revelation 3:1-6

“To the angel of the church in Sardis, one who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars said, “I know your works, you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. I have not found the perfect deed. Therefore, remember how you received and how you heard it, and keep it and repent. If you do not awaken, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you. You have some men, and you will walk with me in white robes, for they are worthy, and the one who overcomes will be clothed in white, and I will not blot out his name in the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. He who has, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."

Sardis Church is a fortress of transportation, a commercial center with locational conditions connected to various cities through the 5 major transportation networks. It is a church established after a region named Sade, famous for its wealth and luxury, and the city of corrupted sins.

In Christianity, faith is built by using the words of revelation and inspiration as two pillars, so if you put importance or precedence in any one of them, you will eventually be biased, and you will not have correct faith.

If you neglect the work of inspiration, you will not believe the word of revelation, and you will lean toward theology.

The Sardis Church was a conservative church that received the gospel through the Apostle Paul, had the correct doctrine and creed, and was developing and improving externally and consciously. However, just as the Pharisees had no zeal, rituals, knowledge of the Bible, and stood on the orthodox line, but had no inspiration, they condemned, persecuted, and crucified the Lord who had come. It is a corrupt and incompetent church that holds on to and believes and lacks the work of inspiration within.

However, no matter how futile the Church of Sardis, as long as there is the Holy Spirit and the workers that the Lord holds and uses, it can fully recover and become a church that satisfies God. that you have appeared

□ The appearance of the Lord

The 'Seven Spirits of God' refer to the Holy Spirit.

Just as God said that it is the Holy Spirit given to those who obey Him (Acts 5:22), the Lord inspires and inspires them through the perfect Holy Spirit to lead them to repent and obey with perfect power, and to give spiritual power to those who practice. you do it

The 'seven stars' are messengers of the church, the people who lead the church, and the workers who are written to God. The seven stars say that the Lord is holding on to the Lord and does not let go.

Therefore, whether a person is good or bad, wise, or ignorant, when the Lord holds and uses them to do the Lord's work, they work as the Lord's. Those who are caught by the Lord and do what the Lord wants them to do, become good people even if they are ugly, wise people even if they are foolish, and powerful people even if they are incompetent.

It's not that the person himself is like that, but because it's the Lord's work, the Lord makes and works for those who do the Lord's work, so if anyone does what pleases the Lord, he or she will be honored. That is why it is wise to give glory to the Lord, and to find out if one is a stumbling block to the Lord.

The grace of the Word that the Church of Sardis received remains in knowledge and does not go into practice under the influence and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, so it is actually a dead church.

However, no matter how futile and incompetent a church may be, if only the Holy Spirit and the Lord's workers are there to save, glorify, and triumph, even such a church can be completely restored and become a church that can satisfy God. say that

Therefore, there are good members under good clergy, and good clergy grow where there are good clergy.

“I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead” (v.

The Sardis Church is a hypothetical church without deeds by living according to the flesh and living according to human thoughts.

Knowing that the Lord has no works, "You have a name that you are alive" and received the Lord's complete redemption and your name is written in the book of life. In other words, God's public judgment can pass completely because of the merit of the redemption, but "You are dead." In God's fourth judgment, when you are judged according to your living deeds, the church in Sardis, because it has no deeds, did not have the opportunity to revive the functions of the body and mind, but suffered the second death.

Those who have been chosen received full redemption through the merits of the Lord's redemptive blood, both in spirit and body, and were recognized as legally living in God's public judgment.

But now, when our flesh meets the reality that is beating us, in that reality, if we live as those who have received the salvation of the ransom, we will have eternal life. miss a chance to survive and cannot survive. Soon, he suffered the second death and legally only had a name as a living person in the public judgment, but in reality, the act of not living as a living person is a dead, no works, a hypocritical church that has achieved a shameful and shameful salvation, and a fallen church.

Sardis Church, like other churches, has no persecution due to emperor worship, teachings from Balaam and the Nicolaitans, Jezebel's tricks, or the malicious slander of the Jews. In reality, it is an empty church, a corrupt church, and an incompetent church.

□ The counsel of the Lord

“Awake, and establish what is left to die; for I have not found the perfection of your deeds before my God. Therefore, remember how you received and how you heard them, and keep them and repent. If you do not awaken, I will come like a thief, and I will You will not know when it will come” (verse 2).

'Awake you' is the word to wake up, but since the saints are those who have been regenerated by the truth, blood and inspiration, the word 'wake up' is the awakening of living by blood, truth and inspiration. The word of the saints is to live by blood, truth, and inspiration.

"What is left" I don't know if I will live one day, ten days, or several decades, but what remains, that is, 'make sure what is dead' In reality, living according to the body and living according to human thoughts are dead.

'Make it strong.' Do not be unable to live as you are with inspiration and the grace of the truth, but do not remain at the level of experience of inspiration or knowledge of the Word. It is a word to live.

Faith dies and lives, not in the past or in the future, but in the present.

It means 'before my God' before the judgment of God's intelligence and wisdom.

'I have not found the perfection of your deeds' The standard of salvation through works must be perfect works. If I think it's in my heart, just because other people say it's okay to do it doesn't mean that works are saved. You have to work hard to become perfect with all your heart, with all your strength, with all your heart, with all your life, and with all your life. Because only perfection is useful, and imperfect things are useless, you can't find anything that you are trying to do perfect. Because the Church of Sardis does not have this, the Lord feels sorry for it and encourages us to do everything we can to reach perfection.

“Therefore, remember how you received and how you heard, and keep it and repent.”

'Therefore,' he has only the name of being alive, but he is actually dead, and he has not found perfection in God's request.

'How did I receive it?' The realization that arises at that time when you listen to God's word is not something you have realized yourself, but it is not what you did yourself that you decided to live like this at that time, but what the Holy Spirit, God, realized and decided.

'However,' When you read the Bible and listen to the sermon, the Bible records are written by the Bible writer, but God Himself speaks directly to him at that time. This is the word that God Himself spoke to you by holding on to these people. It means to hold on to it, not to let it go, to keep it as it is, and to correct what is wrong and repent. This is what God Himself told you to do, so you have to keep doing what you are doing, correcting what is wrong and repenting.

'If you do not wake up' If you do not repent, you are very unfortunate and marked a grave danger.

“I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour it will come upon you.”

Whether you want it or not, your personal life, activities, possessions, functions, freedom, management, etc. will be taken away, cut off, and robbed unexpectedly without any notice of when and how it will come. That's why he said, "Do not put your hope in riches that are without certainty, without certainty, or without firmness, but put your hope in God, who gives abundantly to enjoy everything."

It is an annal that transfers ownership of what is stolen and makes it fully own. The yearbook is not taken by God, but written according to God's will.

'What time will come to you' You do not have any thoughts about the time of your death, you know that it is yours all the time, and you only think about it on the ground, it is registered, it is stored in a bankbook, and it is stored in a warehouse, so it is your If you know that the Lord is coming back, or if God suddenly calls you and leaves you, you will be robbed. You said you would lose everything.

□ The Lord's Praise

“But there are you in Sardis who have not defiled their garments, and you will walk with me in white robes, for they are worthy” (verse 4).

'Those who have not soiled their clothes' are those who did not take off the ransom of Jesus and lived in the ransom of life and death.

'A few' are not many, and some refer to a small group.

There are not many people who keep the purity of faith and achieve holiness through faith (1 Peter 1:22, Acts 15:9), and even though they are a small group, God is pleased and gives great glory and honor.

He said, "Do not be afraid, little flock, for God is pleased to give you the kingdom" (Luke 12:32).

'Putting on white clothes': If you wear the life and death ransom of Jesus and live without taking off the merits of the life and death ransom,

'Walk with me' Walking with the Lord We will begin the blessed life of close fellowship with the Lord in the world and continue the blessed path of faith by walking with the Lord forever.

The Lord praised a small minority of Sardis for walking the path of faith that walks with the Lord without putting on or taking off the merits of the ransom as those worthy of God.

□ The Lord's Promise

Verse 5, “The one who overcomes will be clothed in white robes, and I will not blot out his name from the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.”

The 'one who overcomes' is one who repents after thinking about how he received it and how he heard it.

'You will wear white clothes' You will wear and wear the atonement of Jesus' life and death so that you can live in the atonement of Jesus' life and death.

'His name must not be blotted out of the book of life': 'His name' is not the name of spirit, body, or mind, but the name of an action. There are two components of action: vigor and function.

The saying 'the book of life is not necessarily clouded' means that our bodily functions are not necessarily destroyed because our energy is misused, and we can be destroyed. It tells us that the function of is to obtain salvation well.

'I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels'

In the presence of God the Father, the King of kings, the Lord of lords, and the Judge, and in the presence of the angels, I know that the Lord is all this way, I am responsible. He said, 'I will confess', referring to the fact that he will pass without going through a public trial. How glorious would it be?
