Title Says the Lord
Content Title: Says the Lord
Bible: Jeremiah 30:4-11
Today's text concludes the story of chapters 27-29, which speaks of the warning of judgment for Judah, and tells the prophecy about the restoration of the chosen people of Israel, unlike the warnings of judgment so far. That is why chapters 30-33 are called “the book of consolation.” This is because God has promised restoration. Here, King David foreshadows the Messiah who will come as a descendant of David, and speaks of Jesus Christ who has come to us.
First: the misery of the captives
The Babylonian captivity mentioned here refers to the wretchedness of the Israelites when we were slaves to sin, just like the 430 years of slavery in Egypt.
① Fear caused by trembling sound
“For thus saith the LORD, We have heard a sound of trembling, and there is fear, not peace” (verse 5). What is the image of those who leave the bosom of God and live in sin? That's fear. But why has this fear come among us? because of sin.
② The pain of giving birth to a child
“Ask if there are any men who give birth to their children. Why is it that every man puts his hand on his waist like a woman giving birth, and his face looks pale?” (verse 6) 70 years of exile in Babylon gave birth to children It is prophesying that the days will be like the pain of suffering. The greatest pain that humans experience on this earth is the pain of childbirth. The pain that crosses the death line is the pain of childbirth.
③ Unparalleled Sorrow
“Sorrowful, that day is unmatched great, for it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he will be delivered from it” (verse 7). How many people must have wept over it when it was taken to Babylon and the young people were taken captive.
second ; God promises to save us.
① He gives you true freedom and salvation.
“In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, I will break the yoke from your neck and cut off your cords, and the Gentiles will no longer rule you” (verse 8). It is the word that prophesied of things, and at the same time shows how our salvation will be accomplished. Salvation is liberation. Salvation is freedom from sin, from death, from fear, from all curses.
② To serve Jesus.
“You will serve the LORD your God, and David your king whom I will raise for you” (verse 9). I say. Here, King David foreshadows Jesus who will come among us, die on the cross and rise again.
③ There will be no one to fear.
“Therefore, saith the LORD, Fear not, my servant Jacob, and do not be dismayed, Israel; I will save you from afar, and your descendants from a land of captivity, and Jacob will return and find peace and comfort, and no one will make you afraid” (10). Verse) I will bring you back from the land of captivity. I tell you not to be surprised. No one will make you afraid now. Our Lord never frightens us. The good shepherd takes the lead and leads the flock.
