Text: Exodus 34:22-24

The world's calendar has 12 solar calendar months, and since the month is divided into 2 solar terms and has 24 solar terms, there is a lunar calendar that is useful for farming. In Judaism, there is also a Jewish calendar, and there are months such as Nisanwon, Siwan, Abwol, and Adar.

In Christianity, the world calendar and the church calendar (church calendar) centered on the life and redemption history of Jesus are used together. It will be very helpful for you to learn this well and live your life of faith.

The church calendar is mainly used in two forms. The first is Sunday, the Lord's Day, the day the Lord was resurrected, the day the Lord broke the authority of death and was resurrected. On this day, we believe in the victory and resurrection of Jesus and worship God. Second, the year is divided into six feasts according to the life of the Lord and the history of redemption, and it is a feast set by the church to re-aware the meaning and words of the feast to the believers. There are many other anniversaries.

Today, we introduce the six feasts of the church (Exodus 5:1).

(1) Advent (The Advent Season)

As the season to announce the beginning of the church, it starts 4 weeks before Christmas and marks the beginning of the church (4 weeks from the Sunday closest to November 30, the day of St. Andrew - usually a month in December). It is the season of repentance of sins and longing for a meeting. Advent means Comming, and we have the faith to prepare to welcome Jesus who came 2000 years ago (Christmas) and to wait for the second coming of Jesus who will come again to judge and complete our salvation. At this time, purple color is used, which symbolizes the majesty (authority) of Jesus who comes as King of kings.

(2) Christmas

(3) The Epiphany Season

It is a season to confirm Jesus who came as the light of truth, the reality of mankind who must seek the light, and the meaning of evangelism. January 6 is a national holiday, and it will last for about eight weeks (January to February). The central message of this feast is “The Messiah has come for all. All rise and shine!” At this time, Color uses white, which means holiness.

(4) The Lenten Season (Passion, Passion)

Lent is a period of re-examining the sufferings of Jesus Christ, demanding repentance, sanctification, and godly life, and spiritual training. It is called Lent because it has 40 days except for 6 Sundays during this period. This date varies from year to year, but this year from March 1 to April 15 is Lent. The central message of this feast is, “The Lord suffered and died for you. Repent and give thanks for the grace.” Color is purple and means sacrifice.

(5) The Easter Season

It is a feast with meanings such as the victory of Jesus over death, the joy of victory after suffering, and the blessing of eternal life through the resurrection. The period is the first Sunday after the full moon after the vernal equinox (March 20-21), i.e., if the full moon falls between March 21 and April 25, the following Sunday is Easter Sunday, Easter Sunday - Pentecost (Pentecost) ) for up to 50 days. This year it is from April 16 to May 28. At this time, we celebrate the victory of Jesus over the power of death, and it is a season where we, like Jesus, are resurrected and promise to live with the Lord in a glorious body. Color is white and means holiness.

(6) Pentecost (The Pentecost Season)

The seventh Sunday after Jesus' resurrection is Pentecost Sunday, which commemorates the coming of the Holy Spirit directly to us. This day is also called Pentecost because it is the 50th day after the resurrection. This year, from June to November, half of the year is the period of longing for the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1~4). Pentecost is a feast with the meaning of the work of the Holy Spirit, the presence, and the mission and essence of the church. The central message of this feast is that those who believe and follow the resurrection of Jesus receive the Holy Spirit. Bear the fruits of the gift of the Holy Spirit, and spread and realize God's love and salvation to all nations. Seventh Sunday after Easter - until the beginning of Advent.

In the church year, the above feasts lead the saints to Jesus Christ. I pray that you will now understand the seasons and win with a more mature attitude of faith.

Hallelujah, Amen!!.
