Bible: 1 Corinthians 15:45-49 Title: Second Man

The difference between the glory of a gold medalist and a silver medalist in the Olympic Games is huge. People don't want the second, and they compete fiercely to be the first. In the resurrection chapter of 1 Corinthians, Jesus is called the second man, the last Adam. The first man, Adam, was the one who brought sin, curses and death into the world and opened the gates of hell, but the second man, Jesus Christ, was the one who brought righteousness, blessings and life into the world and opened the gates of heaven.

The mansion of the first man, Adam, is a place where the four rivers flow and trees grow. On the riverside, gold and precious stones can be mined as common as stones in the open air. Adam's wisdom can see all things. He was a holy man with a divine spirituality enough to teach with God. When God held the move-in ceremony of Adam's mansion, he planted two commemorative trees. They are “the tree of life” and “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” The whole world has become self-centered and the first person who can claim as he pleases, but the Tree of Good and Evil has left a sign that God is the owner of the registry in the Garden of Eden. Tempted by Satan, Adam conspired with Satan to make God's possessions his own, but his relationship with God was cut off, he was expelled, and he lived under a curse and death.

The second man, Jesus, was born in a manger in Bethlehem, but returned to his country after living in exile in Egypt to escape Herod's persecution. He devoted himself to household chores while helping his parents, the carpenter Joseph, and at the age of 30, he was called by God and began the ministry of the Messiah. He said, “The Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” He maintained a close relationship with Heavenly Father that even a needle could not enter, always reporting to his father and living according to his father's will. Jesus Christ lived as the second person, looking forward to later glory. He is the one who laid the foundation for the theology of suffering, not the theology of glory. Because of his atoning death on the cross, he restored the lost paradise that was lost while playing in the hands of Satan, the master of sin, curses, and crime, and closed the gates of hell and opened the gates of heaven.

“For this reason God highly exalted him and bestowed upon him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and with every mouth confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to God the Father to the glory of God” (Philippians 2:9-11).

Biblical Encyclopedia of Life

Because of one man's transgression, many became sinners and died, but through one man's obedience, many were justified and received the gift of life to live. The Bible is like an encyclopedia of life.

The first Adam sinned and left a legacy of death, but the second man, Jesus, solved the problem.

The first, Cain, was the father of murder, and the second, Abel, was the father of martyrdom.

The first, Ishmael, was like a wild donkey and believed in the sword, and the second, Isaac, was a man of tabernacles and lived by the covenant.

The first man, Esau, the father of the apostasy; the second man, Jacob, the father of the faith.

The first, Ephraim, was a proud tribe, and the second, Manasseh, was of a humble tribe.

The first king, Saul, was a man of pride, rivalry, and jealousy; the second king, David, was a man of humility, gentleness, and forgiveness.

The first, the Jews, are a spiritually chosen and proud nation, and the second, the Gentiles, are a spiritually favored nation.

After Daniel's three friends who were thrown into the furnace, there was a fourth man who was like a son of the gods. To believe in Jesus and repent is to sever the relationship with the first man, Adam, and be united with the second man, Jesus Christ, to have the blessing of the latter glory opened by Christ. It is a blessing among the blessings that we will enjoy the forgiveness of sins, justification, and freedom from the power of Satan in Jesus, and later inherit the glorious resurrection life and the inheritance of heaven.
