Introduction
New Year's Eve is not far away. Next Sunday is the Lunar New Year, and many people go down to their hometowns to see their parents, brothers and sisters. Those who go early will start on Friday and usually go down on Saturday, and Christians like us will go down on Sunday afternoons or Mondays after Holy Week. We will gather together with our family members to share love and affection with our relatives through sitting, chatting, playing games, and worshiping. No matter how difficult and difficult the road to your hometown is, if you think of the affection and love you share with us, that is not a problem.
Maybe this year I don't know how long it will take.
[For reference, last year's statistics: How long did it take between Seoul and Busan? (Usually) 4 hours 30 minutes / (Explanation section) About 10 hours / Personal analogy 3 hours Distance 8 hours]
But for those going home for the Lunar New Year holidays, these difficulties are not a problem. It's just fun to go back to my hometown and share friendships with my parents, siblings, and relatives. So many people are waiting for the Lunar New Year, and on the road to their hometown that is so difficult, they are excited, and what they can do with a happy and happy heart are their parents in their hometown, their brothers and sisters who live in separate places, but their blood and blood; That's it. Therefore, even before the Lunar New Year, our hearts are fluttering, and our hearts are excited for some reason.
Of course, our housewives sometimes get holiday syndrome because of the heavy housework during the Lunar New Year. When it's a holiday, my heart races, my head hurts, and I get a lot of stress.
However, these days, not only housewives, but also our husbands have holiday syndrome, so there are cases where they complain of pain due to severe stress between their wives and their parents. In other words, husbands say, 'I have to comfort my wife and take her to her hometown, and at her hometown, they are under a lot of stress because of subtle conflicts and misunderstandings between their wives and their parents and siblings.
However, most people run to their hometown with excitement and joy.
This is done purely out of longing and love for your parents and brothers and sisters.
This is something that cannot be explained by any logic or theory.
It is only done because of longing and love.
However, such longing and love are also found in the Bible today.
Although it is not the kind of longing and love we have on New Year's Day, on the contrary, more precious and wonderful love and longing are found in the Bible today.
Main subject
Today's Bible describes an event of an evangelist's heartbreaking longing and love for the church. It is none other than the scene where the Apostle Paul loved and missed the Thessalonian church so much that he sent his spiritual son Timothy to the church in his stead.
Here we can see how much the Apostle Paul loved the church, which was built with the blood of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul truly loved and served the Church by giving everything he had. One of them is the Thessalonian church mentioned in the Bible today.
As we can see from the last sermon, there was a great deal of persecution in the Thessalonian church. The Apostle Paul himself was forced to be driven out of the Thessalonians. When I think of such a church, worries and worries always preceded my heart.
The Apostle Paul says in 2:17-18, the first part of today's sermon, "We left you for a little while, in face, not in heart. And he says, “I, Paul, wanted to come to you once or twice, but Satan stopped me.”
Indeed, the apostle Paul was concerned about the Thessalonian church. So I really wanted to visit it. That is why the Apostle Paul is now using the word ‘I can’t stand it’ (verses 1, 5) twice in verses 1 and 5 of today’s Word. But Paul didn't make it to the end.
So now I am sending Timothy on my behalf.
Timothy was a brother in Christ, a co-worker in the gospel, a spiritual son born of the gospel, and a faithful servant of God. Paul is now sending to the Thessalonian church the person he loves and cherishes, and above all, most trustworthy.
Timothy had two missions.
1. The first was to comfort, encourage, and build up the Thessalonian church so that its faith would not waver in the face of the persecution and tribulation that they were experiencing.
2. And secondly, Timothy's mission was to find out the condition of the Thessalonian church, and above all else, the condition of faith.
In other words, to see what the faith of the Thessalonians is.
This is because knowing their spiritual situation can build them up and prevent them from falling in the face of the temptation of tribulation. This is why Paul is asking Timothy to find out the faith of the Thessalonian church members. Paul was curious about the faith of the Thessalonians who were in the midst of persecution and tribulation. And moreover, Paul must have wanted to hear from the heart that the Thessalonian church was holding on to the faith despite these difficulties.
[ Lesson ]
I questioned myself.
This is the conclusion I have come to, but I have discovered that, although I am lacking, that passion is always there in my heart, and I have a heart to try to live with that passion. In this evil age, our members earnestly desire to live as people of God without losing their faith at work or at home in this evil age, and that they have the passion of their hearts to work with all their bodies for it. Found it.
conclusion
My wish is this. Now I beg you, I exhort you to be Paul and Timothy. No matter how tempting these times may be, even if material seems to be the best, science is the best, and culture seems to represent everything.
In this evil age, like the saints of the Thessalonian church, I hope that you will not be shaken, stand firm in your faith, keep the foundation of your faith, and be victorious.
Please do not forget that this age seems to be eternal, but it is only temporary, and it seems that it will solve everything, but it is such an incompetent age that cannot solve a single human's corrupt conscience and a natural disaster (Haiti earthquake).
And please keep this in mind.
No matter how noisy this age is, please do not forget that there is an eternal world of the invisible God other than this visible age. After this age, an eternal new kingdom that God will surely rule awaits us.
