Title Sending You (John 20:19-23)
Contents
Three days ago, Jesus was arrested and crucified. The remaining disciples hide and shut the door and are in fear. That evening, the first day of the week, the resurrected Jesus appeared to the house where the disciples were hiding.
The disciples were astonished as if they were seeing a ghost. Jesus greeted them by saying, 'Peace be with you!' Those who have lost God and forsaken live in fear and anxiety that Satan gives them. But Jesus brings peace through the cross and resurrection.
When Jesus showed them his hands that had been nailed to the ground and the side that had been pierced with a spear, Jesus convinced them that he had risen as he had promised. He proclaimed peace again to the disciples who turned from despair to hope, saying, 'As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.' The life of Jesus was to show God to people, to set them free from sin, and to give them peace. Now, when Jesus sends his disciples into the world, he gives them the same mission.
The church had the power to bring forgiveness of sins and peace to the world. We declare that the sin that caused the separation between God and man has been resolved through Jesus, and now anyone can enjoy peace with God. Sin has made us the enemy of God and has separated us from life and all good benefits. It has pushed us to the precipice of all kinds of disease and suffering, death and hell, and misery. But now Jesus came and broke the chains of sin, curses, and judgment. Anyone who believes and accepts what Jesus has done will receive eternal life, the life of God, and eternal peace.
The Lord gives us this mission. He tells us to spread the gospel of forgiveness of sins to the world through us to bring peace. We are weak. So he gave the Holy Spirit. As another Comforter (helper) on behalf of Jesus, he has given us the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we can bring forgiveness of sins and peace to the world.
You and I have been sent to a world in darkness, discouragement, and anxiety. Now, do not close the door and hide anymore, but rise up in the name of the Lord. We are the ambassadors of the Lord. You have been called to the church that gives hope to the world. We are little Jesus. Through me and you, the Lord of the Resurrection is preached to the whole world.
