Title Servant Leadership (Mark 10:42~45) (Youth Sunday)
Contents
A few years ago, a movie called 'Amelie' was shown and it was a huge hit worldwide. Introduced in Korea as the French version of 'My Sassy Girl', Amelie, a girl who was misdiagnosed by her father who is a doctor for heart disease and never even went to school, was raised at home by her mother, who is a teacher. After that, her mother dies in an accident, and her only friend, a goldfish, runs out of the fishbowl under stress, and Amelie's life, which is lonely and depressed, takes a turn.
One day, she accidentally finds a 40-year old rusty tin box in a crack in the wall of her apartment. It was a boy's jewelry box full of beads, plastic soldiers and faded pictures. She thinks how happy the owner of this box will be if he finds it again, and sets out to find the owner to please him. After a lot of hard work, he succeeds in finding the owner of a box in his mid-50s with gray hair and secretly delivering it. The middle-aged gentleman sees a box full of childhood memories and is moved to tears and is happy. Watching the scene from afar, Amelie makes a new decision in her life.
It was decided to 'make people around me find happiness'. Happiness eventually comes to Amelie, who played the role of a 'giving tree'. I fell in love with a healthy young man with a sweet smile. The young man also falls in love with Amelie, and now it's Amelie's turn to happiness, and the movie ends with a happy ending. In the movie 'Amelie', the epitome of servant leadership is melted as it is.
Today is actually Youth Day. Youth is a time to develop leadership. It's time to prepare for tomorrow's leadership. What kind of leadership should our youth develop? Where are the young people? What kind of leadership should all of us believers have?
There are many types of leadership in the world. However, the leadership of service is more beautiful than any other leadership. The leadership of Jesus, the most beautiful and noble example of leadership in human history, is the leadership of service. Jesus said, "I did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give as a ransom for all." He also said, "If you want to become great, you must be a servant; if you want to be exalted, humble yourself." It is no coincidence that before the Last Supper, he washed the feet of his disciples and taught that the practice of love is the highest value of life.
1. Servant leadership is the most biblical.
Serving is the example of life that the Lord has set, and it is the command the Lord has given us. It is natural for the Lord's people to imitate the Lord and to obey the Lord's commands.
The management philosophy that leads the 21st century is "Servant Leadership". Whether it's business, politics, administration, or the humanities, this has already been established as an orthodoxy in academia, which is said to be the most advanced in the world. Not only in academia, but also in high-tech companies such as Microsoft and GE, the insight and leadership that encompasses this era is emphasized as the leadership of service. The attitude and mindset of everyone in this first-class group is becoming more and more biblical.
In this way, while the world is increasingly aware of the importance of a biblical life and way of thinking, there is a fear that the church may be inclined toward secularization. I think now is not the time to restore the essence of the church. It goes without saying that the restoration of its essence must begin with the restoration of true leadership.
In the 21st century, there is no way to become great without serving.
Ultimately, success and blessings will follow when you practice the spirit of service taught by Jesus Christ.
2. Serving is possible only by being humbled.
The worldly values struggle to be elevated and envy and hate them to have more. Studying and trying to control others. They trample each other and fight fiercely in order to get more and enjoy it. No one serves on high. Even so, it is impossible to serve in a high place. To serve, you must come down low.
God, the Creator of all things in the universe, was able to come to this earth in the most splendid form. But he came low into the stable. It was because he could not save those who were in a low place, an ugly place, a lowly place, and a sinful place by coming on high. The Lord came and ?쐌ade the poor preach the gospel, the captives set free, the blind restored sight, the oppressed set free, and the year of the Lord?셲 favor is proclaimed.??
Only by being humbled like this is service possible.
3. Serving is what makes a relationship the best.
A good couple, good parents and children, good labor and management, good brothers and friends are all possible when there is service. Serving is the foundation of a relationship. Do you know what was the first reason housewives fell? One day, when I feel like a housekeeper and I think about how long I have to live like a housekeeper, happiness disappears and unhappiness is ignited. Therefore, it becomes difficult to control emotions, and in the end, they leave the position of a good couple and good parents. But if you know the happiness of serving, the closer the twilight approaches, the more you will love and rejoice, and the more beautiful your relationship will be.
In the Talmud, a Jewish book of wisdom, there is an article about a wise wife who teaches when her daughter is getting married. ?쏡aughter, if you respect your husband like a king, he will treat you like a queen. But if you are too proud to serve him, he will treat you like a maid by force. I will put a crown on your head."
That's right. All respect and love comes from service.
4. Serving makes people who deserve blessings.
Abraham served Lot even though he was his nephew. So it was rejected. Jacob served his uncle. I was deceived many times, but so I served. Then God made him richer than his uncle. Wherever the dreamer Joseph was, he served his master. So he became the prime minister of Egypt. Lot served her mother-in-law. So I met Boaz. Days and days are not enough time to tell a story like this. The Lord came to serve and lived a life of service. That's why everyone kneels before that name. Serving is like sowing seeds of blessing. You will reap what you sow. Those who serve deserve blessings.
This is not only a religious fact, but a scientifically proven fact.
As a result of a survey of 3,000 volunteers helping others for more than 8 hours a week, 95% answered that they experienced the joy of volunteering at Helper's High. Their insomnia was cured, chronic pain was reduced, and they did not catch a cold. In addition, a recent study found that people who care only about themselves and who do not help others are twice as likely to die in a row as people who help others. Serving is a way of living for a reason that always has a reward.
I pray in the name of the Lord that the end of this worship service today will be the beginning of service.
