Seventy times seven times (Matthew 18:21-22)

Have you ever truly forgiven someone?

One time, Peter asked Jesus this question. 'Lord, if my brother sins against me, how many times should I forgive him? Can I forgive you one or seven times?' Then Jesus said, 'Forgive me not only seven times, but seventy times seven times.' What does it mean? There is no limit to what you can forgive. It means that you must forgive until the end. So, we are going to look at some of the spirit of forgiveness in Jesus this time.

First, he told us to entrust it to the Lord even if we suffer injustice.

Even if you suffer injustice, you should leave it to the Lord instead of repaying even for revenge. (Romans 12:19) It means to leave it to the Lord and forgive. Therefore, I hope that all of you will forgive without leaving any scars, even if there are scars left in your heart.

Second, he told us to think of the Lord whenever we face injustice.

No matter how injustice we are, what can we do more than the humiliation that the Lord suffered? The Lord suffered all kinds of harassment and insults and endured even the cross. Therefore, whenever we are faced with injustice, we should be the ones who remember the cross of the Lord and forgive the brothers' mistakes at least seventy times seven times.

Third, he told me to do good to those who hurt my heart.

He tells me to pray more and actively do good for those who hurt me and give me pain (Romans 12:20). It means to love more passionately and forgive from my heart. Then, I believe that you will experience the peace and joy of heart that God gives you. Brothers and sisters, let us forgive no matter what pain and injustice we experience. Just as the Lord forgave us, let us live by forgiving our brothers (Matthew 18:35).
