Title Song of Moses/Exodus 15

1. “The Song of Moses” (1-18)

Those who have experienced God's saving grace praise God. He writes poetry and sings songs, makes music and sings songs, sings songs with instruments, dances and sings songs. The ultimate purpose of God's creation and salvation is to receive praise from people. That is why the psalmist sang, “Hallelujah, to our God it is good to praise; it is beautiful and worthy of praise” (Psalm 147:1).

He said that the hymn of salvation that Moses and the people of Israel sang for the first time will be sung forever in heaven. The song of Exodus 15 is also sung in Revelation 15. “They sang the song of Moses the servant of God, the song of the Lamb, saying,” (Revelation 15:3).

The subject and content of the hymn is God Himself who provided salvation (1-12). And the person who sings the hymn is each “me” who has experienced God’s salvation. “I will praise the LORD; the LORD is my strength and song and my salvation; he is my God; I will praise him, and I will exalt him” (2). “Who is like you among gods, O LORD, who is like you, glorious in holiness, and with a majestic majesty to praise, and who does marvelous works?” (11). The content of the hymn is also the power, glory, and holiness of God.

Another theme and content of the hymn is the conviction that the God of yesterday will guide, save, and rule His people tomorrow (13-18). “The Lord led the people whom he had saved by grace” (13). “You will lead the people and plant them on the mountain of your inheritance” (17). “The reign of the Lord endures forever and ever” (18).

2. “The Song of Miriam” (19-21)

The hymn of salvation was not only done by Moses and the man, but also by Miriam and other women. Miriam's song was simple and clear, but it contained everything. Not only that, Miriam didn't just sing, she praised God with instruments (sogo, tambourine) and dance. Women are more religious and expressive.

Those who possess the thrill of salvation sing the grace of salvation. The hymn that we will sing for the rest of our lives, or forever, is the hymn of salvation that we will sing while captivated by the thrill of salvation. Those who have praise are those who live in grace and those who live in blessings. Let's restore the hymn of salvation.

3. “The temptation of Marah and the resentment of Israel” (22-27)

After the Israelites crossed the Red Sea and sang the hymn of salvation, they walked on the road for three days. But they arrived at Marah, a place of bitter water. God was testing them. It was to see if he would praise God even in times of adversity. But they failed. They blamed Moses and blamed God. The reason believers commit the sin of resentment is their forgetfulness and impatientness to easily forget God's grace (Rev. Park Yoon-sun). But God, who was good, heard Moses' cries of prayer and forgave the sins of Israel, 1) sweetened the water, 2) established laws and ordinances, 3) brought them to Elim, and gave them 12 springs of water and 70 palms.
