Title Spiritual Surfing (Psalm 42:6-11)
Contents
Surfing is very rare in our country. It is only a scenery that can only be seen in Jeju Island, but the sport of surfing on the beach in summer has been very popular in foreign countries for a long time. Especially on the beaches of California, USA, from May to October is the surfing season. Surfing is the art of riding waves. Surfers ride on boards and ride the waves in the middle of a rippling ocean.
But a surfer is just a surfer. No matter how good a surfer he may be, no matter how much training he has, he cannot make waves on his own. And you cannot change the direction of the wave or adjust the height of the wave by yourself. Waves are created by natural forces such as the sea, wind, tides, and temperature. The surfer rides the waves that are made. Riding waves in any direction, in any high and low, in any shape of the wave, in line with it. It's not up to the surfer to make waves, make waves and set waves.
If there are no waves in the sea, a surfer, no matter how capable he may be, cannot surf. You have to wait for the waves to form on the beach.
So is our life. So is our faith. The waves of life are created by God. It is God who sets that level. We must thoroughly acknowledge God's sovereignty and His work.
Verse 7 of today's text says, "The deep sea calls to one another at the sound of your waterfalls, and all your waves and waves have swept away me." Isaiah 51:15 "I am the LORD your God, stir the sea and stir its waves." and his name is the LORD of hosts."
The sound of a waterfall is the sound of your waterfall, the waves are your waves, and the waves are your waves. It is God who stirs the sea, and it is God who stirs the waves. There is nothing that has nothing to do with the Lord.
The waves of suffering, the waves of faith, the waves of grace, the waves of the Holy Spirit, and the waves of revival are all created by God. It is God who makes the waves. God sends waves. We are just the riders of those waves. God does not ride the waves for us. It is up to us to ride the waves. I want you to become masters of spiritual surfing. So, I hope that you will become such saints who are capable of riding the waves of trials, trials, and hardships and are not afraid of even higher waves.
What should a person who wants to ride a wave do when it encounters a wave?
First, don't get discouraged and don't get anxious.
Many people get motion sickness just looking at the waves. The most dangerous thing about surfing is losing confidence, feeling discouraged and anxious. It is to doubt God's love. Riding the waves and feeling the fear that your safety will be broken causes your heart to beat hard, your chest to tighten, your head to feel heavy, and a cold sweat. As a result, you lose confidence and eventually lose your rhythm, leading to accidents and failures. Even if you're a good surfer, if you're afraid and anxious, you may be thrown off the waves.
Look at verse 11. "My soul, why are you discouraged within, and why are you troubled within me? Put your hope in God, and I will still praise my God because he appears and helps."
I hope that the more difficult things in life you encounter, the more waves you encounter in your life, the more you hope in God and still praise God. God is a good God. I hope that even when we meet the waves, we can still hope and sing and give thanks to God.
Second, obedience.
Waves are opportunities. Therefore, do not try to fight the waves. And you must not be hostile to the One who makes and makes waves. You must not disobey. You must not protest. Who can question God?
Romans 9:20 says, "Who are you, man, that you dare to accuse God? How can the things that were created say to the builder, how did you make me like this?" We have no right to question God. We just obey.
When there is a wave, you have to ride the wave. I have to put my body on the waves and straighten my posture to release my strength as naturally as possible and become one with the waves. Defying the waves increases your risk of injury. If you cannot surrender yourself to the waves, you cannot become one with the waves. It turns around and eventually fails to surf.
So is our life of faith. The same is true of walking with the Holy Spirit. ?쏻e are not tossed and moved by all precepts and winds, falling into the tricks of men and deceitful temptations??(Ephesians 4:17). You must ride the waves of the Holy Spirit. I must surrender my body to the Holy Spirit and let go of my strength. If I rely on my strength and endure, the Holy Spirit can only be a burden to me. Therefore, the religious life riding on the spiritual wave is also to let go of my strength and leave it to the flow of the Holy Spirit. Instead of trusting in your own abilities and flesh, you must surrender yourself completely to God's grace and leading and obey. We make progress in our faith through obedience. By disobedience nothing can be achieved and there is no benefit.
Verse 8 says, ?쏷he LORD shows his mercy by day, and by night his praise is with me, to the God of life.??We must pray and leave it to God. You must obey. When you meet the waves, you should be able to pray more obedient to God.
Let me introduce you to a prayer that is floating around on the Internet.
Heavenly Father!
When you meet a bad wave in your life
Confirm God's love for me,
Help me to realize that God is faithful to me!
And let us acknowledge the omnipotence of God!
Leave all crises to Almighty God
Let me just praise you!
I pray in Jesus name.
-Amen-
Third, it is about maintaining a balance.
What happens when a person encounters a wave? It's easy to stumble. You run the risk of losing your balance and leaning to one side. When riding the waves, the important thing is to keep your balance. If you can't keep your balance, you'll end up sinking into the sea. The moment you lose your balance, you will be swept away by the waves and fall. They fall into the water and drink salty water. No, doing it wrong can result in injury or death. You need to be able to balance to make riding a wave a pleasure. Once you become a surfer trained to some degree, surfing will become a pleasure, not a burden or fear.
Spiritual balance is necessary for a confident life of faith. For a healthy life of faith, we must not lose our balance. Experiential experiences are important, and in-depth knowledge of the Word is absolutely necessary. It does not lean to the left or to the right (Joshua 1:7). Grace and knowledge grow together.
The balance of two wings and two tracks enables wonderful flight and sailing.
Countless large and small waves appear in the sea of life. Isn't it called Sepha? We can live with the waves, or we can live while enjoying the waves. We are surfers riding the waves. Surfers wait for the waves. In the name of the Lord, I pray that you will become believers who enjoy the waves rather than just trying to avoid them when they are afraid of the waves.
God give us waves of revival. Give us waves of grace Grant us strong waves of the Holy Spirit. I hope you can pray.
