Title Start Now/Exodus 12:1-14
Content Start Now/Exodus 12:1-14
Key Verse: “When I strike the land of Egypt, the blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will come upon you and destroy it” (Exodus 12:13).
Word: How good it is to have a fresh start. It would be a blessing if we could clear the dark clouds of our past lives and go back to where we were before the wrong choices and start over. Wouldn't it be great if you could start a business that was stumbled by the wrong decision before that decision? Wouldn't it be great if someone who was disabled in a car accident could start over so that the bitter memories could be washed away! Wouldn't it be great if you could go back to a year ago and start all over again when your academic grades are dropping because you're preoccupied with playing with your friends, and an important exam is just around the corner. To parents who have been so busy with life that they have not been able to properly care for their children in the sensitive period of their lives, and now they are unable to communicate with their grown children, how wonderful it would be if their children could go back to their childhood and start over.
God gives gifts to the people of Israel who are slaves in Egypt. “Let this month be the beginning of the month for you, the first month of the year . . . “It's a fresh start. In the old days, when the dynasty changed, the year name was changed. It is ‘the first year of King Sejong, the second year of King Sejong’. Some churches call the year this way years before the Jubilee, the 50th anniversary of the church's founding. ‘The first year of Jubilee excitement, the second year of Jubilee excitement’. Looking at the year of jubilee, let's start over with a new heart.
In the Passover, the month (越) means passing. It means that the plague of death did not enter the house of the Israelites, but jumped over it. The Passover is a festival similar to the Feast of Liberation for the people of Israel. The Lamb represents Jesus Christ, and the fact that the blood of the Lamb was applied to the pillars and rungs of the door of the house means that our hearts are painted with the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. Those who sin are bound to die forever. However, thanks to the blood of Jesus, we can enjoy eternal life without perishing.
God is the one who starts anew. No matter how big a mistake I make, I can make a new start in God. So the gospel, that is, the good and good news!
It's early when you think it's too late. What do I need to decide once again and start anew? Word meditation, morning exercise, mission offering, English study, intercessory prayer ministry… .
Prayer: Do not let yourself be discouraged by your sins or failures. Let me try again. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
