Text: John 14:12-14
(12) Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do, and greater works than these will he also do, because I go to the Father. that the Father may be glorified in the Son (verse 14). If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.
Gospel of John (84) There are miracles even today (John 14:12-14)
< Pursue your abilities >
Then the Temple director answered. "student! Was the answer to prayer a coincidence? Maybe it's a coincidence. But, student, there is one strange thing. That is, when you stop praying, the coincidence ceases.”
What people say is a coincidence is inevitable in God. The Bible says that not a single sparrow can fall without God's permission. There is always God's hand and eye behind the mundane things that seem to unfold by chance. When you rely on God's hand and gaze, you will experience miraculous work and power.
A faith that seeks power is by no means a childish faith. Virtually every saint should seek power. This is because Satan cannot be defeated with the power of the saints alone. Do not underestimate the power of Satan. In Matthew 4:9, Satan took Jesus to the top of the mountain and showed him the kingdom of the world and said, “All these things I will give you, if you will bow down and worship me.” At that time, Jesus did not ask Satan, “Do you have authority to give everything?” It means that Satan had such a similar power.
Satan is not the ultimate ruler of the world, only God is the King of kings and Lord of lords. But Satan is a being with great power. Martin Luther said. “No one in this world can be compared to Satan.”
< Ability to overcome Satan >
An Australian acupuncturist puts acupuncture points for the treatment of an elderly exiled Tibetan man whose needles could not penetrate the old man's skin. When the embarrassed acupuncturist apologized that this had never happened before, the Tibetan old man said. “Ah, I’m rather sorry. I forgot to take the amulet off my body.” And when the amulet was removed from his neck, the needle went in. Then the Tibetan old man said: “A lama gave me this amulet, saying that it would protect me from bullets from the Chinese.”
Satan also has considerable power. But the cross of Jesus broke that power. In Colossians 2:15, Jesus neutralized the power of Satan on the cross. So Jesus neutralized Satan's power, so why can Satan still use that power? This is because theologically, we are living in a transitional period of 'already but not yet'. The saints have already been victorious, but they are not yet fully victorious.
Satan is like a lion full of bullets but not yet dead. So Satan is far more ferocious, destructive, and furious than ever before. The world is so dizzy right now, it's a sign that Satan's time to die is near. To overcome such a powerful Satan who rages like that, you need power.
If you believe in Jesus, you can exercise great power (verse 12). When we receive power, evil spirits are driven out. Shinyu also appears. Many people think of Shinyu as childish, but Shinyu is not childish. Above all, one of the greatest powers given to believers is the ‘power to answer prayers’ (verses 13-14). Of course, the greatest power of Christianity is the power of the cross, which kills itself for holy will and throws itself up for holy work. However, when you take up that cross, you will see real amazing power and miracles.
Even today, any number of miraculous powers can be manifested. Seek that ability. The driving force for the life of faith lies in the power that comes from believing in Jesus. You have to believe in that ability to have experience. Neither Jesus nor the skeptics at the time believed, so they could not see the spiritual truth. There is a big gap between the ‘reality of God’ and the ‘reality that people think of’. Close that gap and become blessed souls who experience the power of the living God.
