Sermons for Preaching

Title Summary of the Word of January 30, 2011

Contents

When you ask, you answer (1 Samuel 23:1-29)

Mark 11:24 says, “I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” No matter what kind of problem we pray, one thing is certain: our faith and confidence that our God will answer us.

This verse is a prayer that David offered during a really difficult time. This is the prayer I prayed in the situation of pursuing Saul. We would like to make this the subject of our prayer while meditating on what God's will is revealed in this prayer.

1. David is being pursued by Saul.

First, what kind of God is the appearance of King Saul? (1 Samuel 8:7)

Second, a curse is placed on Saul who neglected the sacrifice and disobeyed the word (1 Samuel 13:9).

Third, an evil spirit might come down on disobedient Saul (1 Samuel 18:10).

Fourth, Saul, who was full of evil spirits, tried to kill David, who was with God (1 Samuel 18:29).

2. While David was on the run, he heard the news of the Philistine invasion (verses 1-5).

David, the servant of God, cannot overlook this. First, David prays to God that he will make a Philistine (v. 2). Then God's answer to go and strike the Philistines and rescue Keilah from the Philistines fell. David is now a stranger on the run by Saul. Among the fugitive strangers, David is chosen as God's servant to do God's work.

Third, in response to the protests of his men, David prays again (verse 4).

3. Saul pursues Keilah where David is. (Verses 6-14)

David asks God again. When Saul asked if he would come to Keilah to kill him, he said he would come down (verse 11). Also, when the people of Keilah asked if they would hand them over to Saul, they answered yes (verse 12). It also shows that the Gylla area is not a safe zone either. David flees Keilah to the wilderness of Sib.

4. The people of Zipp tell Saul where David was living (19-23).

5. He protects David from being besieged by Saul in the wasteland of Maon (verses 24-29).

6. Organize your words. Only when you are in Jesus Christ can you be protected. Please pray to God in the name of that Jesus Christ. You will be answered. It will make you win.

In the end, King Saul led him to a situation where he had to turn away. The God you and I believe in is a God of such power.
