Title [Surprising Week Special] Let's Imitate Jesus' Silence
Contents
* Text: Matthew 27:11-14
* Title: Let's imitate the silence of Jesus!
# Schedule for that night //
* Today is the fourth day of Holy Week / with the title “Imitate the silence of Jesus!”
& God's Word! / Let me prove it.
* Praying in the Garden of Gethsemane / Jesus was captured by the soldiers sent by the high priest
& going back and forth between the high priests Caiaphas and Pilate
& being interrogated that night.
- As you know at the time / because it was a vassal of the Roman Empire...
& The king was formal / and all executions were to be carried out by a Roman governor.
- So, Jesus, captured by the enemies, / was finally brought before Pilate, who was then governor of Judea.
& was taken to trial.
* From today's text, verse 11, / shows the scene of the trial.
- The Lord is now facing the final judgment.
- The governor asks. “Are you the king of the Jews?” = The accreditation interrogation has begun.
- Then, in this part, Jesus / admits / saying, “You are right.”
** Next, the real interrogation begins.
- In verse 12, / you were finally accused by the high priests and elders who were qualified to accuse you.
- They must have listed the sins Jesus committed.
** But, what is surprising / is that even in their words...
& Oh, no, you didn't answer. “He gave no answer!
* Pilate, the judge, / doesn't say anything / because it's a pity...
- “Defendant Jesus! / How many accusations these people are talking about you
& Can't you hear? / Say it once!! hurry!!"
** However, looking at verse 14, / how do you do it in front of that discipline?
- "He didn't answer a word!"
** When the governor saw this / “he was very surprised!” / It was.
# Pilate's report //
* There is a small booklet called [The Report of Pilate].
- This is an “official document” sent by Pilate / that is now kept in the Sophia Cathedral in Turkey.
** This / was recorded by the secretary of the governor at the time.
& [the report of Pilate to Caesar concerning the arrest, interrogation, and execution of Jesus]
& has a title.
* In this [Pilate's report] / it begins like this.
- “The Emperor of Rome! To Sir Diberyo Caesar!! / Greetings to you. / The events that have occurred in the area I control over the past few years are so unique / I do not know if it will change the fate of our country over time, so I would like to inform Sosang as soon as it happened.”
- This is how the report begins / If you look at this report...
& This Pilate explains in detail the situation / at the time when he was interrogating Jesus.
- In a word, Pilate in this report /
& confesses that he felt like he was being interrogated
- When Ballado interrogated “a young man named Jesus,” / he was shocked.
- Because when I saw / I knew the results of having someone to investigate in detail...
& in his own eyes / that Jesus was without sin.
-And then, the chief priests, the elders / accused them of various charges,
& that all of that is groundless / and is due to the envy and jealousy of those people.
& Pilate was grasping.
** By the way, what shocked Pilate more / was not the contents of the accusation.
& nevertheless / despite being sued so many times
& without blaming anyone / without claiming his own right,
& simply being silent / shocked by Jesus' appearance / is recorded in the report.
* There is a figure of Jesus / that we need to meet during Holy Week. // What does it look like?
- Our Lord // in the Garden of Gethsemane - opened his mouth infinitely and infinitely to God.
- However, / towards people / he does not make excuses / or try to be recognized.
& is consistent only with [silence].
** Today we must imitate Jesus like this.
- "Open your mouth to God... / Close your mouth to people..."
* The prophet Isaiah / predicted this very Lord 600 years ago - like this.
* This is Isaiah 53:7.
“He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; like a lamb to the slaughter, and a sheep silent before its shearers, so he did not open his mouth.”
** Dear saints,
- It is our earnest wish that we can meet / this Lord during this Holy Week.
- I want to be like this Lord
# Jesus is silent about his work //
1. First, our Lord was silent about “his work.”
* Everyone! Take a closer look at the Gospels.
- After the Lord has done something / the amazing miracles he has done and the things he has done...
& “Don’t show it!”, “Don’t reveal it!”, “Don’t tell anyone!” / You said so
1) What do you do after / after raising the daughter of Jairus, the ruler of the synagogue?
- You don't know how surprised the parents / were that their dead daughter came back to life... /
- Luke 8:56 "Jesus warns you not to tell anyone about this!"
* Jesus is a marvelous thing that the world / cannot possibly do!,
& in spite of performing miracles / [silenced].
* These days, even more, is the “advertising age”. It is “the era of self-PR”.
- How many more “Pumplings”...? /
- Also, (because I can't say it out loud) secretly / How many other things are revealed...
** Most people / want others to know / what they have done.
- You want to be recognized / praised.
* In times like these, / our Lord / rather
& everything is hidden. / I'm not talking.
** Everyone! Today we all / want to learn this silence of Jesus.
- Today we don't brag about / what we've done.
& “The Lord did it (×2)” - revealing only the glory of God through my life
& servants of such faith! / I wish you all the best.
# Silence about the faults and faults of others //
2. Second, Jesus was “silent” / “about the faults and faults of others.”
* In John 8, / the scribes caught / dragged the woman who had committed adultery on the spot.
- Put it in the middle / “This woman was caught in adultery” - What should I do?
** How does Jesus respond then?
* The Bible says:
- "Jesus bent down / and wrote with his finger on the ground..."
** Everyone! Just imagine the situation at that time.
- “I brought a lustful woman caught in adultery here.”
** If you were told / how would you react?
- "Hey! But, why did you bring only women? / Who is that opponent? who...? / Where did you do that?”
* The Lord covered his ears / and stooped down on the spot... //
- He doesn't say a word.
- He doesn't ask or agree with a single word.
** The Lord was consistent / [silence] about the faults and faults of others.
* Everyone! We are all debtors of ten thousand talents.
- I have to finish on my line. / You must be silent.
- “With the judgment with which you judge, you will be judged, / with the measure that you measure, it will be measured to you!”
* Everyone! / Be silent about the faults of others.
- Only then will God's grace be revealed.
* Is someone else in a very difficult predicament?
- End it on my line. /
** This is what we must learn from the silence of the Lord during Holy Week.
& important posture.
* Let's learn the silence of the Lord!
- Even if I see other people's faults / Even if I see other people's weaknesses in my eyes
& when we treat with silence / writing on the ground
& I believe that God's grace will come upon us today.
# Absolute obedience to God //
3. Let's think about one more thing.
* Our Jesus' silence was “absolute obedience to God.”
* Jesus knew / in a moment / what path he would take / and what death he would suffer.
* He knew / that Pilate was going to set him free even if he had only one argument.
- And yet / [silenced].
** why? / Why did you go the way of the cross without opening your mouth / without saying a word?
- Because it is God's will... / Because it is God's plan...
& [absolute obedience] to the word of God.
- In Jesus' silence / [obedience] to God flows.
* Everyone! / Those who obey / the word of God / do not need words.
- Those who obey the will of God / who deny himself / carry his cross and follow him
& no words.
# conclusion //
* If Jesus had not been silent, what would have happened?
- Today we would not have been saved.
* If Jesus / before the chief priests and elders and Pilate...
& If you had defended your right, // we would not have been saved.
** Because of the silence of our Lord today / remembering that you and I are saved.
1) Of course it is obvious, and you are silent about things you are proud of.
2) I can finish my own line and be silent about the faults of others.
3) Knowing how to obey silently /
& I bless you in the name of the Lord that I can become such a [silent man].
