Numbers 22:21-30
As Balaam heads to Moab, he curses Israel and is filled with greed for honor and wealth in return. God, who already knew Balaam's unrighteous heart, became angry with him and sent his messenger. However, he could not see the angel of God because he was already blinded by greed and greed.
The donkey carrying Balaam saw an angel standing there with his sword drawn. The donkey was so startled that it ran wild and ran into the field. Embarrassed, Balaam said, “No, why is this donkey doing this?” He whips the donkey.
But the donkey continues to see the angel of the Lord among the narrow spaces of the vineyard. Frightened, the donkey stood close to the stone wall, and at this time Balaam's foot was torn by the stone wall and wounded. Angry, Balaam beats the donkey with a whip. “Is this guy’s ass crazy? It looks like it’s finally time to die?”
Despite Balaam's strong whip, the donkey continues to see the angel of the Lord and is afraid to enter between Balaam's feet. Embarrassed, Balaam became even more angry and mercilessly struck the donkey with his staff. “Is this guy crazy?”
God finally opens the donkey's mouth and rebukes Balaam. “What did I do to you that you hit me so three times?” Suddenly the donkey spoke, and Balaam doubted his ears. Of course, Balak's envoys who accompanied him were also bewildered by the strange thing.
Balaam comes to his senses and speaks. “Hey, bastard. Is it because you don't listen to me? If you had a knife in my hand, you would be dead already." "Aren't I the donkey you've ridden all your life? When has I ever behaved like I do today?"
Spiritual ignorance leads to rash actions like Balaam. Please remember that there is no mistake when you are sensitive to the voice of God in everything.
