Title Teach Me / Psalm 119:9-16
Contents Psalm 119 If you look closely at Psalm 119, you will see that the word of God is expressed in various ways in different words. For example, the law of the LORD, the testimony of the LORD, your way or your law, your commandments, your statutes, and the truth. The Word of God is expressed in various expressions such as the Word of God and the righteous ordinances of the Lord.
Psalm 119 is a song written by a poet who loves and longs for the Word of God. In particular, in 119:12, it says, "Teach me your statutes, O LORD, blessed." Evidence, commandments, ordinances, words, and ordinances all refer to the Word of God.
The poet prays, "Teach yourself by the word of God." And in verse 10, he prays, "Do not depart from the commandments of the Lord." Why did he pray to teach him the word of God? Why should we learn the Word of God and keep it in our hearts?
This is because the Word of God is so important.
Why is that statement important?
Every verse of Psalm 119 has an explanation, but I will choose just a few verses to explain why the Word of God is important.
1. Because He rescues me from suffering.
Notice 119:153, "Look at my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget Your law." This means, "I have not forgotten Your word, but I have kept it; deliver me from my troubles." Here is the secret to solving hardships.
All people are bound to suffer hardships. Mental hardships, physical hardships, and material hardships are bound to happen. Originally, the meaning of hardship or tribulation was to flail when threshing. Beating grain with a long flail When we hit it, the grain falls out. We are still living our lives being ripped apart in various ways. We are living our lives groaning because of the pain and wounds. However, the grain cannot come out without being hit by the flail.
The poet confesses.
“The reason God rescues me from the flail is because I do not forget Your words.” Let's not forget the word of God.
I have an electric razor. When I stand in front of a mirror and shake the razor to shave, Tyler rolls his feet and sings a song, but the razor's motor doesn't turn. The motor runs. The problem is plugging in the cord.
The motor does not run because I do not plug the cord in my life into the God who has power and authority and plug it into another place.
In Psalm 119:67, the poet confesses, "Before I was afflicted, I went astray, but now I keep Your word." Also in verse 71, "It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes." It is a truly amazing confession. It is a confession that I learned the word of God with my heart and mind.
Job 36:15 says, "God saves the afflicted at the time of their affliction." The poet called those times the time to remember the Word, the time not to forget the Word, and the time to return to the Word.
Let's not forget the Word of God. To forget the Word of God means that we forsake God's will and leave the bosom of God in order to live according to our own will.
If you leave God's Word, your bosom, suffering will come.
Don't forget or leave.
2. Because you get a response.
Notice 119:145: "Answer me, O LORD, I have cried out with all my heart, and I will keep Your statutes."
The secret to receiving answers to prayers is presented. In particular, two things should be noted in verse 145.
First, I cried out with all my heart... … is.
What is wholehearted? It means that I put all my heart into it. It means that I have no heart to give anymore. In other words, it means that I prayed with all my might. Yes. You must pray with all your heart to receive an answer. If you pray with only your body, you will receive an answer. It is not. You must pour out your heart. You must give your heart and give your heart.
Second, I will keep Your statutes... … This is the second secret to receiving answers. You must keep the Word of God. Only then will you receive answers.
The famous Austrian composer Haydn was talking with several artists. At that time, a friend asked, "What is the fastest way to regain mental strength when you are exhausted and exhausted on a piece of work?" There were several answers, but when it was Haydn's turn, he replied, "I have a little prayer room in my house. When I get tired of work, I go into the prayer room and pray. I've never been unsuccessful in this way." .But there is something more important. More important than entering the prayer room is to keep the word of God and put it into practice.
Someone came to the pastor and asked with a grumbling voice.
"Does God always answer prayers?"
"That's right."
“Then why is there no news in my prayers?”
"What did you pray for?"
"I prayed for four years to 'make my business successful and make a lot of money', but I failed every time, and instead of making money, I only suffered losses."
“Have you thoroughly followed your tithing life?”
"No. I've never tithing."
The answer has already been revealed.
The condition of answering is keeping the Word. Asking for an answer to my prayer while disobeying, disobeying, and turning away from the Word is nothing but coercion. No. All you need to do is plug in the power cord right away. The responsibility for not getting an answer lies with me, not God.
3. Because he saves me. Let's pay attention to 119:50.
“These words are a comfort in my trouble, for Your word has made me alive.” In 119:159, it says, “See that I also love Your law. "He died" means to bring back the dead, and to revive means to bring to life what is dying. Plants that are thirsty due to drought drink water and come back to life again. Resurrection is what sprouts and leaves.
In other words, the word of God means to bring the soul and body of man back to life. Dead souls! It means that the soul that was dead in sin will be brought back to life, and the body that is dying from disease and pain will also be raised.
The Lord stood in front of the tomb of Lazarus, who had been dead for four days, and said only one word: "Lazarus, come out."
to the blind! To the lame! To the crippled! For fever patients! For hemorrhagic patients! He said, "It shall be done according to your faith" and "Your faith has saved you."
The Word of God saves individuals' souls and bodies, and heals and heals sick families, sick history, and the dying world.
4. Because there is peace.
Notice 119:165, "Great peace are with those who love Your law, and there will be no obstacle for them."
Why is there no peace? Because there are many obstacles. Politicians are not at peace because of political obstacles, and business people are worried about business obstacles. These obstacles and such obstacles make them uncomfortable. What are obstacles? Obstacles are stumbling blocks, cumbersome things, and obstacles in your path. Because of those obstacles, your success will be delayed, your career will be delayed, and your plans will be hindered. But there is peace for those who love the word of the Lord, because there are obstacles. The poet confessed that it was not.
It has two meanings.
First, it also means that the Lord removes obstacles for those who love the Word.
Second, it also means that the Lord will overcome obstacles hand in hand.
Both are good.
If you love the word of God, you will receive such blessings. You will become a victor on the path of life. You do not have to walk the lonely path of life. You do not have to sleep at night and worry. Because the Lord removes obstacles and gives you peace.
Let's look at the hymn of chapter 421 together.
