Sermons for Preaching

Title [Text: Genesis 17:1-8] I will

God appears to Abraham and makes a promise. “I will establish my covenant between me and you, and I will multiply you exceedingly.” One particular emphasis can be found in this passage. "I will .... will do" is the word. We want to find out what these words mean to us this morning, what are the lessons, spiritual grace and blessings, and what our mission is.

1. God does it.

2. “We Will Do It”

“I will do it” means “we will do it”. When the Hebrew writer saw Sarah like this, he said, “He himself was too old to give birth.” Yet, Abraham expected, “Abraham hoped and believed in hope...” (Romans 4:18). Abraham and Sarah were also old, but they had a son. Paul was born into a well-to-do family with Roman citizenship. He was educated under Gamaliel, an influential Orthodox Pharisee in Judaism, and a member of the council who held all the powers of politics, economy, legislation, justice, and military at that time. Worldly speaking, Paul was a well-to-do man who was born into a first-class family. But after he met the risen Jesus in Damascus, he regarded all worldly things as dust, walked the path of suffering, and confessed, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:11-13). said. Even if our lives are difficult, difficult, and exhausting today, we will come to know that the people or circumstances that annoy us and make it difficult are not obstacles in our life, but rather a shortcut to success and happiness. We can too.

3. What is our mission?

In this society we live in now, there are many people who have faced more difficult circumstances, conditions, and hardships than the lion's den or the furnace fire. In times like these, we are living in a very difficult and difficult time as children of God, how to live and how to behave properly. We became his children by God's grace, and by God's grace we got help and got back up when we were in trouble. So what are we going to do? Jesus said, “You are the salt and light of the world” (Matthew 5:13-14). Some people look after people who are in the same crisis after they have survived an incurable disease, while others take care of their poor neighbors. I think it is time for the church to turn its attention to the difficult problems of neighbors in the faith of ups and downs and the revival and growth of the local church. There is a Bible in which Jesus fed 5,000 people with 5 barley loaves and 2 fish. Although Jesus performed miracles, the disciples shared it with the hungry, so they joined in and participated in the work of God. We can too.

We cannot perform miracles like God. There is no power or power like God. But one thing can be done. We have a heart that is hurting, struggling, and having a hard time with them. And we are people who have suffered the pain of suffering in the past. Even now, we are living through hardships and difficulties as much as anyone else. But we have the weapon of prayer. God said to Abraham, “Walk before me and be perfect.”(1) We are loved by God: “By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us, and we also lay down our lives for our brothers. It ought to be thrown away” (1 John 3:16).
