Title [Text: Hebrews 11:5-6] Enoch's Faith
In this time to learn the right life of faith by examining the forefathers of faith, I would like to introduce the second person, Enoch, to receive grace. Enoch is the sixth generation of Adam. After giving birth to Methuselah, who lived 969 years, at the age of 65, he walked with God for 300 years.
He was a man of faith who was led to heaven without seeing death. Now let's look at this Enoch's faith.
1. I walked with God. (Genesis 5:22-24)
There was another man besides Enoch who walked with God. This is Noah. (Genesis 6:9) We will talk about Noah next week, but today we will only talk about Enoch. Another important life that cannot be omitted from the upright life of faith is a life of walking with God. Living with God at all times, anywhere, at all times is the most appropriate act of faith. Many modern Christians tend to think of God as an ornament. Or they tend to think of him as an old man in the back room. I look for it when I need it, otherwise I turn away from it. It is not right faith. Let us always keep in mind that a life with God is the right life of faith.
① Walking with God is a great blessing.
Accompanying (traveling) with capable parents gives you various privileges. You can eat and enjoy to your heart's content without spending a single penny of your own. When you walk with God, you enjoy much greater benefits. You will be protected, and you will be provided with enough peace, prosperity, joy, and satisfaction. Everything you need is provided. It cannot be a big blessing. Let's walk with God and become all of us who enjoy great blessings.
② There are several things you need to walk with God. You have to align yourself with God. Not my will, my thoughts, my method, or my purpose, but God’s will, thoughts, methods, and purposes should be the center. When we give up everything we have and conform to God, we can walk with God. You must also trust God completely. You cannot travel with someone you don't trust. Only when you trust in God can you walk with God for the rest of your life. You must live a holy life. I am holy, so you must be holy. Only those who live a separate life, that is, a righteous and godly life, can walk with a holy God. Even the saints who have lived alone in solitude until now, I hope that they will always walk with God and enjoy great blessings for the rest of their lives.
2. You made God happy.
① I believed in the existence of God.
The text says that those who come to God must believe that He exists. I know that none of us doubts or denies the existence of God. However, there are many people who actually go to church and do not believe that God exists. It's unfortunate. Such people just need to meditate deeply on the Bible while praying. Because the Bible is the only book in which God Himself revealed Himself.
② We believed that God is a rewarder. The text says that we must believe that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. There is not a single person who did not receive the reward (grace) even after seeking the Lord with sincerity and earnestness. All our labor for the Lord is not in vain. We must never forget that God is a rewarder of those who have dedicated themselves to the Lord. (Matthew 5:12, 1 Corinthians 15:58) Luke 18:29-30 “Truly, truly, I say to you, who has left houses or wives or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God.
There is no one who does not receive many times as much in this time and in the age to come eternal life.” God is pleased when you are sure of such a reward and serve diligently.
In this way, Enoch walked with God and lived a life of faith that always pleases God. God loved Enoch so much that He allowed him to go to heaven without seeing death, the greatest suffering among human suffering. I hope that we too will always be people of faith who walk with God.
