Sermons for Preaching

Title [Text: James 1:1] James, Servant of Jesus

Since this book of James was written for this purpose, it gives great comfort and strength to the reader and encourages a life without shame by suggesting the right relationship between faith and action. I hope that we too will have a precious history of renewing our lives through these words. Now let's take a brief look at the text.

“James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, greets the twelve tribes that are scattered.”

1. We introduce ourselves as “a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.”

There are important lessons and truths implied in this confession.

① James means that he believes in Jesus as God. He was, in fact, a man who did not regard Jesus as anything more than a physical brother. When Jesus performed strange powers and told the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, many people drove him to be a madman, but James was the same as their thoughts. However, after witnessing the death and resurrection of Jesus, he came to have complete faith and became the leader of the church.

Trusting, respecting, and following your brother is not easy. James is a person who has been greatly blessed because he overcame all these circumstances and gained faith.

② James sees himself as a servant of Jesus. It is not a brother and a sister, but a relationship between the Lord and a servant. You will see true humility. We also see utter obedience. When your older brother becomes great, there are a lot of people who try to get ahead. James was not like that. Rather, they are thoroughly observing from the position of the species. This is faith. May we also have this kind of humility, submission, and loyalty.

2. It said, “Greetings to the twelve tribes that are scattered.” The subject of the letter.

① They are the ones who were scattered because of persecution. I write this letter to those who are lonely, lonely, and gripped by fear. God comforts and blessings the saints for this purpose. We too need to find them and comfort them.

② Greetings. It's not just a greeting. This “greeting” means rejoicing and rejoicing. It means encouraging and encouraging them to rejoice and rejoice. It is also a plea to God to bring joy.

May God give us all great faith and joy.
