Title [Text: James 4:4-10] Spiritual Adultery
1. We must humbly submit to God (6,7,10).
When we are spiritually proud, we turn away from God and turn to the world. If our heart is turning away from God and toward the world, it is evidence that we are already spiritually proud. They can never obey the Lord's commands. The sijo's crime is because of this. Adam and Eve were deceived by the devil and disobeyed God's word. On the day you pick it and eat it, you will surely die. Because of that, the founders lost Eden. It was a miserable life. We must completely stand on God's side. We must always be humble before God. You must obey the Word. We must become saints who resolutely oppose the devil, who often comes to us and is deceived by cowardice. Then we can keep our purity as people of God without falling into the temptations of the world.
2. We must draw near to God (8).
3. You must not have two hearts (8-9).
Only God must be in our hearts. If there are worldly things such as material things, honor, or authority in one side of your heart that has God, you are committing adultery. The text says, “You double-minded, purify your hearts.” Those who live on two legs are the most cowardly. He who lives with two women in his heart is the ugliest. We must be pure in heart. We must become believers who live only with God. In doing so, even outward actions can be sanctified. The text says, “Sinners, wash your hands.” No matter what our lives have been up to now, we must be sanctified, he said, “Sorry and mourn and weep.” This is a call for thorough repentance.
Let's thoroughly repent of our past life when we were friends with the world. May we live a holy and holy life with only God in our hearts. This is the way to end spiritual adultery.
Now I would like to close my speech. Let's remember verse 5 of the text. “Do you think it is futile to say that the Holy Spirit, whom God has made dwelling in us, longs for envy?” It shows how extreme God's love for us is. The Holy Spirit loves and longs for us to such an extent that we are envious, so how can we turn away from God and become friends with the world? No, He even died on the cross for us, so how can we betray Him and turn to the world? Let our hearts and lives serve only the Lord, and let us live a life that is worthy of the Lord's heart. Let us humbly obey the Word. Let's always draw close to God. Let's not live with two hearts. Let's not commit adultery spiritually, but let us all be chastity toward the Lord. Let us stand before the Lord without blemish, spot or shame.
