Early Greek philosophers analyzed love and divided it into pieces such as agape love, eros love, and philia love. But we know that love cannot be defined by idealizing its content. Love is what you do when you experience it. Love is something you can experience and do from someone. Just as a mother can receive love and love her children when they grow up, love is learning and training. But fundamentally, love comes from God. A lamp is used as a way to live the night when the light of the sun that illuminates everything is temporarily hidden. Likewise, the various kinds of love we do can be seen as a kind of temporary measure in this world that replaces God's love. So love is one.
A Japanese author, Ayako Miura, did an experiment with a love chapter widely known to us in the Bible. 'Love is long-suffering and gentle, not envying... When we read the text that begins with ', we wanted to read it again by putting the word 'I' in place of the word 'love'. 'I am patient. I am meek. … Withstands everything.' However, I will soon have to confess that there is no place where the word 'I' does not fit as well as here. This may mean that love is not something I can guarantee that I can do it in the first place.
Expression of love starts with wanting to be together and accepting the other person as they are. When God loved humans, He wanted to be with them, so He sent Jesus, who is Emmanuel (God is with us). And he accepted us as we are. He loved us the way we are, even if we cannot change. Love is learning. Love is training. So it's technology. Let's live and love each day.
Prayer: The Lord who loved me first! Thank you. Because of the Lord's love, I can also love others. May today be a day to love others like you. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
