Title Why? /Luke 24:13-35
There are two ways to read the Bible. Why? how and how? That's the way it is. This is organized into Hebrew thinking and Greek thinking. Generally, I am interested in 'how'. But it doesn't help at all. Let's say I'm coming today and my car has a flat. How could this be? Worship is late. Did you rush in and hit your head in the underground parking lot? How could this be? How was he resurrected? virgin? Man with dirt? How did you guide the pillar of fire and cloud? It is not resolved. The more you go to church, the more you suffer. "How could you do this to me?" But the Bible wants me to wear the glasses, “Why?” Why do I have this kind of difficulty? Why was Jesus resurrected? Why is there Judas powder?
1. The main text is the story of the two disciples going to Emmaus. These are the people who saw the power and miracles of Jesus at the time of Jesus. But after Jesus died on the cross, they are on their way to Emmaus. Why are they going to Emmaus? Twenty ducks are exactly 10 kilometers away, so why are they going to Emmaus? They are going from city to village. From Jerusalem to the countryside. They want to leave and leave the religious life. That's what we look like. Sometimes we want to hide from this world. I want you to go to Emmaus. There were times when I wanted to hide even my faith in Jesus. Perhaps the disciples of Emmaus felt the same way.
2. The problem is the next story. Why did they not know of “Jesus” who was accompanying the disciples when they ran away? (Verse 16) Why were their eyes covered? What covered their eyes? This is the tricky part. Here we can put ourselves in the shoes of these fleeing people. They had a lot to say about the cross of Jesus. I risked my life to follow the Lord, but in the end all I came back to was suffering. It was something I couldn't understand.
1) First, they must have blamed and resented it.
"If you were going to die like that, you wouldn't have been a disciple!" "I can't understand how weak you are!" "I knew he could change the world! I thought something would change, but I'm disappointed" "I regret entrusting my life to someone like that!" The thing that needs to be changed in the life of faith is not to blame anyone. Because I create both joy and sorrow.
2) There must have been another excuse and excuse.
"I'm sorry that you died alone, but what is my responsibility?" "Still, I stayed by his side until he was arrested" "I understand Judas' heart. Perhaps Jesus was seen as a helpless mystic" "But I did not betray him like Judas" Excuses in faith make Jesus invisible. Yes, there is a reason why I cannot pray. There is a lot to say about the unfairness, but Jesus is nowhere to be seen.
3) In fact, the most difficult emotion for them was fear.
“What will happen to us now?” “They will come to arrest us” “But they will not be caught because they hide quickly in the countryside.” There is no way Jesus can be seen by the disciples who are running away in fear. That's right. Such resentment, blame, excuses, excuses, and fear are what prevents us from seeing Jesus as Jesus. It is the result of not having faith by faith.
5. The disciple Emmaus saw through (verse 21), "We saw this man as the one who will redeem Israel." What is the meaning of these words? It means that he knew Jesus in his own way. I put Jesus in my mind. I put both faith and blessings in my thoughts. And there are many times when I show the folly of being God on my own. So Jesus, who was aware of this foolish thinking, speaks through (verses 25-26). It is only through suffering that we can receive glory. Suffering and Glory, the Cross and Resurrection This logic is the logic of God. In Genesis, the way to know the face when he created the light is to make the night. When there is sadness, joy can be distinguished, and only when there is a cross is to receive glory. Are you suffering? Admit it. And feel it enough, and compare the warm and great love of God that will soon come.
6. To these fools, the text speaks of Jesus giving blessings and breaking them. In verse 31, something strange happens. Then their eyes were opened. Why did their eyes brighten? That is what they wanted the very Jesus to bless. Their eyes were opened when they found Jesus drawn in their thoughts. But Jesus says he did not see them. Why? This is because their faith is a faith that chases after illusions. This is because I think of Jesus who gives only what I like and wants to live in his own will, regardless of God's will.
7. Then what happens? Only then do they return to the Word. Calm down and your heart will be warm. (Verse 32) The phenomenon that appeared when we received the Word it was a burning heart. Their thoughts, illusions, resentment, blame, excuses, excuses, and fears are gone. That's right. This is what changed when I met Jesus. And how did they move? They left the road to Emmaus (verse 33) and came to Jerusalem, the place of departure. came to reality. Ultimately, the ultimate goal of salvation is our lives. If we avoid life, we are avoiding Jesus. You have to feel honest. And to admit failure and discouragement. The problem is not that the incident, but that my heart is not hot. That's why you can't see Jesus properly.
1) Oh! Yes, according to the word of God, I am a person who is peaceful and upright.
2) A person who is half-worried, half-trusted, and moderately trusting.
3) I do not believe, but I am insecure. He was a person who was anxious.
In the end, only the upright were saved. This is the focus. So is belief. Just do what the Word says. Don't put Jesus in my mind. If you give it to me, I entrust it to you. You can shine, you can fight, you fail in Inai? It may or may not be healthy. Do you believe in Jesus? Yes. The important thing now is whether there is any resentment, blame, excuse, or fear. Put it down, you won't be able to meet Jesus with this. And back to the Jerusalem reality. confidently. Because we are eagles with decent fathers.
