Title Why does it change? / Philippians 3:1~14
Why does the content change? / Philippians 3:1~14
Key Verse: “Anyway, I seek to reach the resurrection from the dead” (verse 11).
Word: Korea has a shorter history of spreading the Gospel than Japan. However, at present, the number of Christians in Japan is at 0.8% and in Korea it is over 20%. There were many great forefathers of faith, and their sacrifice and martyrdom helped revive the Korean church. However, sometimes there are people who become corrupt among church leaders and members. So it is condemned by society. Everyone is tempted by many temptations in the world. But the forefathers of great faith have overcome the world. Like the forefathers of faith, we too must overcome the temptations of the world.
In Philippians 3:12-13, the main text, Paul explains the reason why Paul does not change as an example. Paul was able to overcome the world because he believed in the resurrection. We will surely die someday. And eternal life is determined “by those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and to those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment” (John 5:29). Paul said that we die daily for the resurrection of eternal life. People are rewarded according to their deeds on this earth. He gives the resurrection of life to those who have done good, and the resurrection of judgment to those who have done evil. God promises to bless and acknowledge those who endure temptation, and to give the promised crown of life to those who love Him (James 1:12). A true Christian who overcomes the temptations of the world does not change (1 Corinthians 3:12-15). Because the true Christian believes in His promises and lives in this world with the hope of the crown of life.
How can we distinguish between those who do not believe in heaven and hell and who do not believe in the resurrection when we live our faith? These people live for themselves. I try to leave something on this land. They try to leave a name for themselves and leave many descendants. He wants to leave his name on the world through good deeds. But Jesus left nothing on this earth. A true Christian knows the end of the world. I know that there is a resurrection after death. On that day, “the heavens will be dissolved with fire, and the elements will be dissolved with hot fire” (2 Peter 3:10). And true Christians believe that we will see a new heaven and a new earth according to His promise (2 Peter 3:13). In this way, everything left behind by the people of this world disappears. So the true Christian overcomes the temptations of the world in order to obtain the resurrection of life with hope in heaven. Those who truly believe in the resurrection do not change. People who have true faith and hope in heaven do not change.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, have a heavenly hope that I will not be corrupted by killing me daily. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
