Title Why He Comes / Isaiah 53:5-6
content -6
We are now in the second week of Advent. Advent is a season to prepare the way for the Lord to come. It is the season of waiting and preparing. Today we have a special feast of the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper held on Advent, waiting for the coming of the Lord, feels more meaningful. It is because we think about why the Lord had to come into the world, and we long for His grace more deeply.
In today's text, the prophet Isaiah earnestly prophesies why the Lord had to come to this earth. He prophesied:
He was pierced for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities.
Because he is disciplined, we have peace
He was whipped, and we are healed. this
His coming is prophesied that it is because of our transgressions and iniquities. Although transgression and sin are almost similar concepts, transgression refers to immoral acts committed by people, and sin refers to spiritual sins committed before God. This means that Jesus came to take away our transgressions and sins. Jesus came and was pierced, wounded, and whipped in our place, so we had peace and we were healed. He came and was crucified, wounded, chastised, and whipped, so that we may be forgiven, healed, and at peace. This is ‘He’s 缺??
To solve the problem of human sin, people choose one of three ways to live.
① The method of forgetting - It is a way to forget serious things and just enjoy today. Most people live in this way. However, although this method may be forgotten for a while, it will eventually return to its original place and one day you will face the problem of sin.
② Ethical and moral method - It is a method to make rules for a human life and strictly follow the rules. Confucianism or the laws of Judaism are one of these. However, the more these rules are kept, the more formality and face are left, and the greater the sense of guilt.
③ Method of abstinence - All problems arise from colliding with people, so this is a method of leaving people and severing ties with the world. Buddhism uses this method. However, being born into the world itself is a relationship and a relationship, so how can we break the relationship of the world?
Fundamentally, man cannot be saved from sin. Because human beings are selfish and tainted with sin, they can never solve the problem of their own sins by their own efforts. It's not even academic. It's not even a commodity. It's not even personal training. It's not even ascetic. Nothing can save man from sin. It's like being unable to see behind yourself with your own eyes.
God took pity on these people. So, God Himself took the sin of man and created a way to atone for sin. That is the cross. The cross was the seat of God's supreme judgment to punish mankind for their sins. But the cross was also an expression of God's boundless love, which opened the way for forgiveness by atoning for human sins.
Therefore, whoever believes in this cross of God's atonement, the cross of love, has been given the power to receive forgiveness of sins and become a pure soul and become a child of God.
To those who receive it, to those who believe in his name,
He has given you the power to become children of God.
It was not born of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man.
Only those who are born of God. John 1:12-13
So, what must we do for this salvation? Nothing. You just have to believe it. All you have to do is believe that the Lord died on the cross for you. By his wounds I was healed, and by his wounds I was saved.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way.
The Lord has laid upon him the iniquity of all of us. Isaiah 53:6
