Bible John 8:10,11
The Gospel of John tells the story of Jesus Christ being God. In particular, the words of John 8:1-11 that I want to study today are through the joy and thrill of salvation that Jesus Christ, who came to this world in the flesh, gave to a lowly woman despite the fact that He is the eternal God. We want to receive the message from the times. The words of this text teach two truths to us living today.
First of all, it is our life. The woman caught in the scene of adultery was caught by the scribes and Pharisees in the scene of pleasure and was put to death. This is what we look like. As sociologists say, our people have a great foresight for life. It is also true that the strong vitality and the desire to live well are stronger than any other country or any nation. People say that these things worked together to get through the tunnel of the IMF, which was enough to drop a nation's fate into a pit of misery and despair. But we are forgetting one important fact.
It means that we are now living in the grip of a great Fiction. Just like a woman who tried to find happiness in life in pleasure, today people try to find happiness in the joy and contact of the world. But happiness in life does not lie in pleasure. So, why isn't pleasure the happiness of life? Because at the end of pleasure awaits God's judgment. Eventually, she was brought to death by the scribes and Pharisees.
Today, we tend to find misery in poverty, disease, and failure. However, the reason that poverty, disease, and failure cannot be called unhappiness is because God did not place human happiness on material things. That's right. In this world, there are people who are poor but happy, and there are people who are rich and unhappy. Misfortune is not elsewhere. Just like a woman caught in adultery, there is today's misfortune of being dragged around by unwillingness with loss of will.
In retrospect, the pain of comradeship during the 36 years of Japanese colonial rule and the Korean War caused by the Korean War was an unforgettable pain for us. However, I don't think it's any bigger than the dryness and emptiness of life caused by being led by the lines of materialism and the world. Nevertheless, the reason people throw themselves into the world of modern people living today is because they put the value and standard of life on themselves.
The Bible speaks of the atoning work of Jesus Christ. “He was pierced for our transgressions, and he was bruised for our iniquities. By his discipline we have peace; by his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, for the life that is in Christ Jesus. The law of the Spirit has set you free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1-2).
The scribes and Pharisees were caught up in the world and could not save the woman who was in the face of death. Only Jesus Christ could save her, who was waiting to die in front of the stone roots of the legalists. In this way, only Jesus Christ can save us from the seat of sin and death. Jesus Christ is our Savior. He is our God. Jesus Christ is the center of history. You are the center of this country, this nation.
That is why we must move from a human-centered nation to a neo-capitalist nation centering on Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ! He was not on the side of the strong, but on the side of the weak. He was not on the side of the perpetrator who was trying to pick up stones, but on the side of the victim who was trembling in the face of death. The Lord spoke to the scribes and Pharisees who took the law of Moses and accused the woman of immorality. All those who tried to condemn sinners were restrained by the word of authority, “He who is without sin among you, let him first throw a stone at him.” And he made them all leave the stones and go away. Now, only Jesus and this saved woman are left, who rescued her from the brink of death. Here we see the true face of human existence. Today, everyone is living a busy life. But being busy isn't always a good thing. Sometimes we need a time of reverence to stand quietly before Jesus Christ.
There is nothing wrong with the struggle for economic revival and entry into developed countries. But to forsake the moment of existence of meeting Jesus Christ, the only Savior of mankind, is to give up life itself. Just as music without commas is not music, if you do not find true peace and rest in Christ, it is not a worthwhile life. Happiness is not in the world. True happiness is only in Jesus Christ.
William James said, "There is absolutely nothing absolute." That's right. Matter is not absolute. Neither power nor knowledge nor fame have absolute values. All of these things are like morning mist that appears for a moment and then disappears. Only Jesus Christ is absolute because He is God in the flesh.
Do not hesitate to find out who can truly bring happiness to our people and nation! He is our Savior, Jesus Christ. There is no death in Jesus Christ. There is no misfortune, no failure, no sorrow, no disease. Therefore, “Century and age advance. But as the famous writer Goethe once said, “Man always starts from the beginning. In Jesus Christ, through Jesus Christ, try again.” Then Jesus Christ will be on our side.
