entry
The God of Israel, our God, is a God of healing.
God has come to heal Israel, but God heals me. He said that no one cried out to God and that everyone was like an unturned rice cake. They did not know what their fault was or what their sin was.
Because they did not turn the dough, they were numb when they smelled of sin, of disobedience, and of rotten souls, like the smell of burning flour.
Even though God's eyes are burning from underneath, and God's nose is smelling of burning, they are rather enjoying it.
Hos 7:13 Woe to them, for they have gone astray from me. Be destroyed, for they have sinned against me. I want to redeem them, but they speak lies against me.
Hosea 7:14 They did not call on me with all their heart . . . . you are rebelling against me
How do you speak to the prophet Hosea in today's text?
“Put the trumpet in your mouth.”
When will the prophet blow the trumpet?
1. When to announce a crisis
2. When you rebuke your sins
3. When we proclaim God's will
Sometimes this trumpet symbolizes the mouth of a prophet.
A prophet is also a watchman who must blow the trumpet in a crisis.
Isaiah 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and tell my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sin.
Ezekiel 33:1 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Ezekiel 33:2 Son of man, speak to your people and say, Say, I will bring a sword against a land, and the people of the land will choose one of them to be their watchman.
Ezekiel 33:3 When the man saw that the sword was coming down on the land, he blew the trumpet and warned the people,
Ezekiel 33:4 When they hear the sound of the trumpet, but do not guard, and the sword that comes upon them is taken away, their blood will return to their heads.
Ezekiel 33:5 If he had guarded, he would have saved his life, but when he heard the sound of the trumpet he would not guard, and his blood would be on him.
Ezekiel 33:6 But when the watchman sees the sword approaching, he does not blow the trumpet, and does not warn the people, and if one of them is taken away by the coming sword, he will be put out of his iniquity; I will find it in my hand
God's command to blow the trumpet to Hosea is to blow the trumpet loudly to announce the crisis of Israel through Hosea, rebuke their sins, and proclaim the word of God.
Let my mouth be a good watchman's trumpet.
Let us be the mouth of the prophet who announces the crisis of the age, the personal crisis, the sins of the age and personal sins, and proclaims the word of God.
1. What kind of crisis is coming to Israel now?
1 Put the trumpet in your mouth, and your enemies will strike like eagles on the house of the LORD.
Blow the trumpet, for the adversary comes like an eagle on the house of the LORD. is to shout out loud.
What characteristics does an eagle have?
They are quick and agile when they see their prey and attack them (Deuteronomy 28:49).
The power of the wings is very strong.
It is a bird that gathers where the body is. (Matthew 24:28)
He says that an enemy like an eagle will come upon Israel.
It is to declare that an enemy, swift and agile and strong like an eagle, will invade Israel, which is like an unturned war and rebellious Israel.
Just as eagles gather to see a dead body, when they see Israel abandoned because of their sins, enemies will attack them.
To announce this crisis, the prophet Hosea is to blow the trumpet.
Today, if we too are in our sins and we are not overturned, the evil devil will attack us like an eagle and a lion trying to devour its prey.
2. What sins do you rebuke?
He used the mouth of the prophet when he had to reprove sins. (Blow the trumpet).
Ho 8:1 . . . For the multitudes 1) break my covenant, 2) transgress my law.
Hos 8:2 They will cry out to me, My God, our Israel knows you.
Hos 8:3 Israel has already rejected goodness, and the enemy will follow him.
Hos 8:4 They set up kings, 5 and not by me, and they appointed princes, 6 which I do not know, and 7 they have made for themselves idols of silver and gold, and they will bring ruin.
The covenant is the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20:1-17.
The law refers to the ordinances for the sacrificial laws and the people's livelihood laws that Israel must follow, including these Ten Commandments. They broke the covenant and the law, knew the Lord, but knew the Lord wrong, rejected the good, and kicked them.
They set up a king and elected princes, but they did it their own way, not according to God's will.
Moreover, they made idols for themselves out of gold and silver.
God warns the prophet Hosea, trumpet their sins. is to rebuke.
Knowing God as Lord and believing God as our Lord are two completely different things.
Do you sin because you do not know God? Are you going to hell because you don't know God?
You don't want to confess that you know God, but you believe in God. I believe you are my father. I believe you are my lord.
There must be a confession of faith that we do not know that our ancestors are such a God, but that we believe that the God of our ancestors is our God.
3. Declare the will of God.
What is the will of God revealed in today's Word?
What does God say?
Hosea 8:3 . . . The enemy will follow me
Hosea 8:4 . . . will bring ruin
Hos 8:5 . . . When can you be innocent?
Hos 8:6 . . . The calf of Samaria will crush it
Hos 8:7 They will sow the wind and reap the storm.
What is sown has no stalk, and the ear will not bear fruit.
Even if it bears fruit, the Gentiles will swallow it up.
7 What does it mean to say that we will sow the wind and reap the storm?
The beginning is small, but over time the consequences become unacceptably large.
The seed of sin is small, but it grows with the passage of time. like a snowball
When the storm of sin has swept away, the only thing left is the ravaged wounds.
Only punishment remains in the place where the storm of God's judgment has passed.
What is sown has no stalk, and the ear will not bear fruit.
No matter what you bark in front of idols, it will bear no fruit.
Because they broke the covenant and violated the law, whatever they do before God is nothing but chaff.
The whole country will be thrown away in a storm.
Even if it bears fruit, the Gentiles will swallow it up.
Even if there is some fruit, it is not ours, but someone else's.
closing words
What is God trying to say to His chosen people through the prophet today?
Why are you blowing the trumpet?
This is to warn them so that they can understand and prevent the tribulation that comes like an eagle from coming.
If you repent, receive healing, keep your covenant with God and keep the law, the eagle will not come.
If you fear God and serve Him with faith, your enemies will come in one way and flee in seven ways.
All you have to do is work as God pleases, do politics, and make idols.
Then, even when a storm arises, it will be quiet. Even if a storm rises before you like the Sea of Galilee, but the Lord says, be still, it will be as if it had calmed down.
None of what you have planted will not bear fruit. It will bear fruit 30, 60, 100 times.
The fruit you bear, the fruit of your faith, the fruit of your family, the fruit of your children, the fruit of material things will not be taken away from you.
