Will these bones live? / Ezekiel 37:1-10
God first chose Israel as His people. And he revealed the truth to them first. He revealed the secret of creation and the secret of salvation. And he also revealed who God is. God's goal was not to end with one nation of Israel, but to save all nations through Israel. But Israel betrayed God. Despite receiving the grace of election, they betrayed God. They were transformed into a nation that worshiped idols instead of God. However, God does not give up on his chosen people. If it's someone else's child, I'll just leave it alone, but because it's my child, even if I pick up a rod, I'll fix it. So God finally took the rod. The people of Israel were severely punished. He made the Gentiles attack Israel. So, around 722 BC, "Assyria" occupied northern Israel. Then, around 586 BC, Babylon conquered southern Judah. Babylon captured Israel and took many Israelites as captives. Among them were the well-known Daniel and Ezekiel.
Ezekiel was originally a descendant of a priestly family. Had I been in my hometown, I would have seen the work of a priest. However, because he was a prisoner of war, he spent the years groaning without any hope. But at this time, God showed Ezekiel a wonderful vision. Seeing this vision, Ezekiel was completely changed. From despair to hope, sighing into joy. What the hell was this fantasy?
Ezekiel 37:1. “The Lord came upon me with power, and with his spirit he brought me and placed me in the middle of the valley, where it was full of bones.” God showed me this vision and said: “These bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, Our bones are dry, our hope is gone, and we are destroyed” (verse 11). We think for ourselves that we are hopeless, we are completely ruined, we say. (This image is actually who we are today. I am wrong. My house is wrong. My life is wrong.) The fantasy continued. Section 4. "...
Prophesy to all these bones and say, "Hear the word of the Lord, ye dry bones." "Prophesy." What is a prophecy?
instead of saying I am not speaking my own words, but instead conveying the words of the one who sent me. It was God who sent Ezekiel.
Therefore, it is to preach the word of God instead. It is to preach the word of God to the dry bones instead.
So Ezekiel obeyed. “Then I prophesied as I was commanded, and as I was prophesying, there was a sound and moved, and bones were joined together, bone to bone” (verse 7). What a wonderful scene. Imagine the scene where the bones scattered here and there jump up and find their place. Tendons are formed and skin is formed. However, there was one thing lacking. Section 8. “And I looked, and there were tendons in the bones, and flesh grew, and there was a covering of skin over them, but there was no life in them.” It changed into a human shape, but one thing it lacked was that there was no life in it. means life. When he created man in Genesis, he made man out of dust and breathed life into his nostrils. This vitality is life. This happens when the Holy Spirit comes. When the Holy Spirit enters, life arises. Without the Holy Spirit, life is lost. In Genesis, God warned Adam. “If you eat the fruit, you will surely die.” Nevertheless, Adam ate of the forbidden fruit. As a result, the Spirit of God departed, and as a result, the spirit of Adam died. After that, all descendants of Adam have left the Holy Spirit. spiritually dead. In other words, it became like dry bones.
To believe in Jesus is to receive the Spirit of God again. You must receive the Holy Spirit to receive life. This life is eternal life.
There are too many people in this world who have not received the Holy Spirit. These people are alive, but in reality they are dead. The body is alive but the spirit is dead. All people without the Holy Spirit are like dry bones. So God commanded Ezekiel: Section 9.
"And he said to me, "Son of man, prophesy to the breath, and prophesy to the breath, saying, 'Thus says the Sovereign GOD, Come from the four winds, and blow on these slain, that they may live." So Ezekiel obeys again. Section 10. "Then I prophesied according to the commandment, and breath of life entered them, and immediately they came to life and stood up, an exceedingly great army."
Who can raise a spirit dead man? Only the Holy Spirit can save. When the Holy Spirit comes, the dead will come back to life. Pray for the Holy Spirit to come upon you. "Holy Spirit. Come. Come to me like dry bones and give me life."
What message does the Bible give us today? God can do it. There is nothing impossible with God. Even dry bones can be revived. "My husband is dry bones. It's wrong, it's impossible. My son is wrong." Don't give up like this. No matter how dry bones are, God can bring them back to life. God, who sent Ezekiel to dry bones, is sending us to dry bones today.
Why? to speak to preach the word of God instead. He is sending us to preach the word of God, the gospel, to the spiritually dead dry bones. Dry bones can never be revived by human power. impossible. However, it can be restored to life by the power of God's Word.
Think about what God has done in the past. When Abraham was 99 years old, God spoke to Abraham. "Your wife Sarah will have a son." At that time, Sarah did not believe the word of God and laughed. Then God rebuked him. "Is anything too difficult for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time, and Sarah shall have a son" (Genesis 18:14) Is 1 year later Sarah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. In the New Testament, an angel came to the virgin Mary one day. “You will have a child in your body, who is the Son of the Most High God” (Luke 1:35). Mary asked how this could be, and she answered:
"For no word of God is impossible." (Luke 1:37) In Mark 9, the father of a child possessed by a demon asked that his son be healed. said this “If you can, please heal my son” (verse 22). And what did Jesus answer? "What do you mean by 'if it is possible'? Nothing is impossible for him who believes" (verse 23).
I can't do it, but God can. We cannot save dry bones. impossible. But God can. There is nothing impossible with Almighty God. We just have to obey God's commands. Go boldly to dry bones and shout the word. Then you will see the miracle of the dry bones coming to life today. Amen.
