Title Worship

Contents

Main text: Psalm 92:1-15

First, what is the basis of worship?

Worship comes naturally when God is in the center of our hearts. Because we are so grateful for God's grace, we naturally please and praise God. Also, when God is in my heart, the oil of the Holy Spirit naturally falls on my head. “It is like the precious oil that is on his head, flowing down on his beard, Aaron’s beard, down to his collar…” (Psalm 133:2) This anointing of the Holy Spirit is poured out on the heart that desires to worship God.

We realize how great and glorious God is through worship and confess it through prayer and praise. (Psalm 92:1) “...it is good to show your kindness in the morning, and to show your faithfulness every night...”

The appearance of the Pharisees and tax collectors worshiping in Luke 18 shows the attitude of worshipers well. A Pharisee is self-centered and boastful only. He couldn't give proper worship. However, the publican is on his knees with a mourning heart, crying and asking for God's grace. As such, the foundation of worship is the temple where God is at the center of our hearts. It is given to those who have realized the grace of God.

Second, what are the contents and blessings of worship?

The blessing of worship is that the worshiper enters a place of glory.

When we worship God, God receives our worship and leads us to the place of God's glory.

The blessing that worshipers receive is holiness. When Isaiah worshiped in the temple, he saw the God of glory indeed, be holy, holy, holy! Hearing the voices of the seraphs praising, I received the grace to cleanse my dirty mouth with the charcoal they brought. In this way, worship is what makes us holy.

Worship is to be offered in truth, charity, and the knowledge of God.

In Hosea 4:1, God rebuked the people of Israel, saying, "...There is no truth, no mercy, no knowledge of God in this land."

Micah 6:8 says, “Son of man, the Lord has shown you what is good; but what the Lord asks of you is not to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” In other words, the content of worship should be full of truth, kindness, and knowledge of God.

The truth is that we always trust in God. Kindness is unchanging love for God alone. The knowledge of God is constant obedience.

Therefore, the content of worship is to realize that God has chosen us as His children who can not be changed even if we give the world, trust us, give us unchanging love, and protect us for eternity. and worship with the knowledge of God.

Third, what kind of fruit do worshipers receive?

it will be new. “For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). We examine the will and will change our inner person. Zacchaeus was changed after meeting Jesus. “Lord, behold, I give half of what I have to the poor, and if I have extorted anyone, I will repay you fourfold.” (Luke 19:8) In this way, the fruit of worship is becoming a new person.

At the beginning of Psalm 92, it seems that the wicked prosper and the righteous are persecuted. However, during worship, the righteous will prosper like a palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. (Psalm 92:12) During worship, the wicked will be judged and the righteous will prosper. It is said that the fruit of worship bears fruit even with old age, and it is rich in sap and has a lush green light, indicating the uprightness of the Lord.” (92:14-15) The lives of those who worship God become more lush and radiant as they get older.

Dear saints, the basis of worship is to realize and give God's grace.

The content and blessing of worship is to realize that God is the One who gives us unchanging love and trust and protects us. We also serve, love, and be loyal to God alone. In this way, we walk the path of walking with God. Through this kind of worship, we will be transformed and live a happy life that reveals the glory of God in the second half of our lives.
