Youngam Church Prayer School (7) Practical Suggestions for Prayer
The person who wakes up the dawn is the person who wakes up in his heart and wakes up the dawn of history. The church has always played a role in waking up the dark dawn of history. If the church fails to fulfill this mission, it will be judged by God. Regardless of the age, those who carried the cross with Christ were the ones who awakened the dawn. He awakened the dawn of civilization and awakened the soul from deep sleep in idolatry to become a child of the Lord. He fulfilled his mission of waking up the dawn to a nation falling into a sleep of perdition. Even now, God is looking for a watchman who wakes up the dawn. Isaiah 21:11 asks, "What is the night, watchman? What of the night, watchman?" Among the watchmen are those of the night who do not wait for dawn. People who live in darkness and shade.
However, there is a watchman who waits for the dawn and announces the dawn. The church has been carrying out the mission of a watchman to awaken the dawn to mankind, who were in darkness due to their sins. When thousands of slaves were crushed in yokes and chains, it was the Christians who woke up the dawn who unchained and set them free. It was the people of the dawn who loved the Lord who woke up the dawn of history by protesting against the dictator who suppressed freedom and conscience.
David confesses that my heart is established and established. It is a decision to fulfill the mission of a person who wakes up in the morning. Instead of waiting for the dawn to wake me up, I wake up first, praising God and seeking God, so I wake up. If the posture of waiting for the dawn to come is static, the posture of waking up and praising the dawn is dynamic. The work of the Holy Spirit is dynamic and dynamic. There are creative minorities in history. The creative minority are those with a vision to wake up the dawn. God loves and gives grace to people who have a creative vision who sees the dawn in the dark.
Those who wake up the dawn must be convinced that God alone is the Lord with the power to dispel the darkness. We must have the conviction that there is no tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, or anything that can separate us from the love of Jesus Christ because God is with us. The dawn is the morning when darkness disappears and a new day dawns. It is the person of dawn who consistently announces the dawn to those in sorrow and hardship and to neighbors living in loneliness and shadows. Let's wake up the dawn with the light of Christ and wake up with patience. (Psalm 57:1-11)
1. It is better to meet God early.
Before we can see the faces of those we love, we must meet God. As the sun rose over China, Hudson Taylor was talking to God. Muslims put us to shame because they wake up early in the morning and cry out to a god who doesn't answer. When David said, "I cry to the Most High God, to God who does all things for me" (Psalm 57:2), he hastened to say, "I will awaken the dawn" (Psalm 57:8). pasted
The warriors of prayer in the Old and New Testaments rose early in the morning. Open the Bible and see Amraham (Genesis 21:14), Jacob (Genesis 28:18), Moses (Exodus 34:4), Joshua (Joshua 3:1), and especially our Lord. “In the early morning, Jesus got up and went out to a secluded place, where he prayed” (Mark 1:35).
2. There must be a certain place.
Dwight Moody prayed in a coal depot when he couldn't find another place. One businessman made it a habit to keep no one in his office from 9 to 10 every morning, because that time was strictly set aside for prayer, and celebrities had to wait patiently while he spoke to the King of Kings. .
Early morning disturbed mothers can go to a secret place to pray after their children go to school. The soldiers never disturbed a general when they saw a white handkerchief hanging in front of the barracks. <No matter what happens> We must have a certain place. How can you stop this! Some people said, "My closet is my chair in the bus, where I cover my face with my hat and pray."
3. Family prayer is essential for families who want to value Christ.
The LORD said to Abraham, "I have chosen him to command his children and his household, to keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that what the LORD has spoken about Abraham may be fulfilled" (Genesis 18:19). did.
Timothy was undoubtedly from a family with family prayer. “Because you are thinking of the faith that is not false in you, which faith first was in your maternal grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am convinced that it is also in you” (2 Timothy 1:5).
Read a chapter of the Bible each morning and have the children take turns reading it. Read and discuss missionary letters and let the young children learn simple, honest prayers and praises. Like Samuel, he will show sorrow to someone who prays a lot but neglects to pray with his family (1 Samuel 8:3).
4. Unity in prayer is blessed by God.
"Again, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them" (Matthew 18: 19-20).
A burning spark of revival is sure to arise where a person begins to pray in a right relationship with God and prays with his friends. But such efforts must be made on a daily basis to be effective and biblical. “Every day, we strive to be together in the temple together…” (Acts 2:46a). “The Lord added to the number of those who were being saved day by day” (Acts 2:47b).
5. You should pray at every opportunity.
It is good to pray in the car before traveling. When people call you for help, you can pray effectively over the phone with them. Men and women alike have been often led to Christ by phone, many waiting at the bottom of the well, waiting desperately for the Lord to call. "I guess I'll have to turn to the Lord to solve this," said a poor man. "That's right!" exclaimed his friend in amazement.
Robert E. Lee was the head of the military academy in his later years. He spent the rest of his class praying for those under him. For many years, I have been praying in the mailbox whenever the letter of that day is published. We have a box and we put our bills in that box. Pick them up before the Lord and pray, and then things will go well any time. Pray before making a decision. Pray especially before making a decision that is likely to come suddenly. Look at what Nehemiah did. “Then the king said to me, What do you want? I will immediately pray to the God of heaven” (Nehemiah 2:4). “Rejoice in hope, persevere in affliction, persevere in prayer” (Romans 12:12).
6. Public prayers should not be lengthy.
Moody said it is better to hear several short prayers rather than one long prayer. A long public prayer represents a short private prayer. (The longer the public prayer, the less the private prayer.)
Sir Wilfred Grenfeld was saved when Mr. Moody sang a hymn and proclaimed a message after he had interrupted the prayers of those who lengthened the public prayers. Solomon prayed the longest prayer in the Bible, but judging from his life after that, it seems he never prayed again (1 Kings 8).
God said when Peter cried out, “Lord, save me” (Matthew 14:3), when the Syrobonic woman cried out, “Lord, help me” (Matthew 15:25), David said, “Lord, help me” (Psalm 12:1), this is the shortest prayer in the Bible, and the Lord answered these prayers.
“Therefore, when you pray, do not add testimony” (Matthew 6:7). This is a stereotyped prayer that God hates, or a prayer without inspiration that has been prepared in advance.
Includes Predigested Prayer.
There is not a single verse in the Bible that tells us to read prepared prayers. These things are best for the Gentiles. Those who pray the same long and tedious prayer every time they are asked to pray should not ask to pray.
7. Sermon prayer is not good.
"It was the most amazing prayer ever to the Boston audience," said one newspaper article. Teaching the Lord in prayer is not the best way to pray. Frequently study and note the profound depth of our Lord's exemplary prayer to present the principles of prayer (not to be praised in the church) (see Matt. 6:9-13).
8. Personal Prayer
Feel free to completely abandon your complaints, wonders, embarrassment, doubts, and difficulties with a holy heart and boldness, and leave it blank. Abraham's first prayer (Genesis 15) contains these things. David said, "I vomit my affliction before him, and my troubles before him. Even when my soul is broken within, you know my ways" (Psalm 142:2-3a).
Look at the theme of Psalm 102 and notice its surprising content. Jacob learned to cling to God at the Jabbok River <Jabbok means 'a place to be emptied' (Genesis 32:22)>. There he was deprived of what he thought was the power to wrestle and the power to pray.
When he lost everything, he became the strongest victor.
9. Some Encouragement for Prayer
It is clearly understandable that what encourages us to pray comes primarily from the Word of God. In the Word we learn about a friend of our great friends who always willingly listens to us and helps us. But many of us find that after a while we have plunged into an undisciplined and unbelieving life. I have found an amazing remedy for this. I decided to read at least one chapter from a good book on prayer every day to keep in mind that my own prayers are of the utmost importance. I started collecting these books as a hobby, and in them I really found treasures and encouragement. Go and do the same, pray that God will guide you to the best book, and seek advice from those who know the best book. Be sure to include many missionary autobiographies in your purchases (eg George. Mueller/ Hudson Taylor/ Adoniram. Judson/ Livingstone...).
If you are bored of recording your prayers, at least record the answers that move you. Ask visitors, speakers, and pastors who visit your home to tell you the answers to their prayers. As I read the prayer answers, I discovered all the fields of prayer that I did not know. I exclaimed, "I didn't know the Lord would..." You can make a book out of the inspiring prayer answers you've heard, read, and experienced, and it won't be a scrapbook. Some people have made notes that contain only God's promises of God's Word that they have been or would like to claim.
As you hear and read about answering prayers, pay close attention to the key secrets or principles involved. Sometimes make a list of what people prayed for in the Bible. There are hundreds of things. Mark the great chapters on prayer in the Bible. Study the autobiography of men and women in the Bible who prayed. Every time I prayed in the Bible I read, I marked the end with a P (Prayer), and each end is filled with admiration for what God has shown us. But in the end, only the Holy Spirit can pray correctly. If we do not grieve Him in word or deed, we will always know and practice the adventure of prayer like never before.
Prayer at the beginning of worship
(One)
God, at this time we look to you.
Anxiety and fear, despair and frustration, arrogance and disrespect, anger and confusion, numbness and helplessness,
Or we turn to the Lord as one of reward and joy, anticipation and hope.
See us as we are, listen to us, and accept us.
