December 5 Mark 11:15 --19. Verses 27 - 33
Theme: He wants the temple to be holy.
Temple Cleanup Event - Before Jesus died on the cross, he drove out the merchants and money changers from the temple in Jerusalem. This is the house of prayer for all people, so why did you make it a den of robbers? After cleaning it, he went back to Jerusalem the next day. When he went up, the chief priests, the scribes, and the Pharisees questioned Jesus, and Jesus asked them again, and they did not answer, so they tried to figure out how to kill Jesus because of the incident. (Mark 11:17-19)
What lesson does God intend to teach us?
1. God wants our temple to be holy and clean
ㅇ He wanted the communal system to be holy and clean.
Do you not know that the temple of God and the Holy Spirit dwell in you (1 Corinthians 3:16)?
It is the human heart that is more corrupt than all things.
ㅇ God looks at the heart of man
★ For out of a man come evil thoughts: fornication, theft, murder, adultery, covetousness, malice, deceit, licentiousness, jealousy, slander, pride, and foolishness; all these evil things come from within a man and defile him (Mark 7: 21 -- 23)
★ 1 Timothy 2: 4 God wants everyone to be saved and says that quality is better than quantity, but the salvation of souls is different.
Let go of the cold heart that looks at the soul and have a heart that rejoices when a new soul returns.
※ God is most pleased when He does what He cares about the most. Therefore, we seek the salvation of souls that God is most pleased with...
2. We must cast away envy, jealousy, and cursing in the temple of our heart.
ㅇ Feeling that people do not like things that are good for them (time)
ㅇI am morally better than that person, so why am I inferior to that person (jealousy)
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you (Genesis 12:3).
3. The standard of our conduct should be quality.
There are two types of groups
① High priest, scribe, Pharisee -> For his own interests and vested interests
②Jesus Christ, John the Baptist -> Understand the truth and endure your own suffering (doing what pleases God)
○ We must now make decisions to do God's work
1. Is this something that pleases God? Is it something you hate?
2. Is the path the Lord walked on a narrow path? Is it a wide road?
3. Was the path the Lord walked on was a sleepy one? Was it just me?
It is basic for us to receive blessings, but it is only possible when God is with us.
※ The Jerusalem Temple refers to the present church. My Father's house is a house of prayer, so we will be blessed when we serve the church with a pure heart and do what pleases God.
