chance to give back
Jon 3:1-2
It is said that there is a slogan (motto) that American businessmen use as a habit. The 3Cs are necessary to be successful in business.
Chance / Choice / Callenge
1. Seize the opportunity
2. Make your choice right
3. Challenge
There are not many people in the world who succeed by seizing the first opportunity well, but there are many people who succeed through the second opportunity.
Today's text also shows the fact that Jonah at first disobeyed God's voice and went to Tarshish. He met a great storm and nearly died, but even in the belly of a big fish, he repented and prayed and performed well.
That is why Jonah 3:1 says, “The word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time.” If you look at people who have succeeded in their faith life or business, most of them are not people who achieved it all at once, but people who failed and fell and got up again and did their best.
A famous painter named Whistler tried to enter the US Military Academy at West Point, but was rejected because of a bad chemistry score. It is not shameful to fail, it is shameful to be disappointed. We grow in a continuous process of failure. Even successful people in business have succeeded after suffering many times of failure. Our Christian life also sometimes makes mistakes and falls, but once we repent and repent, God gives us a second chance.
Judas Iscariot repented of his mistake, but repented and did not think to rise again, so he committed suicide by hanging.
After King Saul had sinned, the great prophet Samuel came to him, and he did not turn back and persisted even though he rebuked and rebuked him. Eventually, he was defeated and announced a tragic end. However, when David sinned, when Nathan, a nameless and frivolous prophet, came and rebuked him, he fell on the spot, repented with tears and was forgiven, becoming a good king who was pleasing to God.
The devil tempts me by saying, "It's okay, try it once," before committing a sin, but after committing a sin, he says, "It's a big deal. make it So, what should we do when we fail?
1. Never be discouraged. As long as there is life, there is hope.
Goldsmith said, "Our greatest glory is not where we never fail, but where we rise again when we fail."
Everyone! Do you know the special drug No. 606 for skin diseases? Why did you call it No. The person who discovered the drug failed 605 times, but did not get discouraged and continued experimentation and research. As a result, it succeeded only 606 times.
Isn't that the light on the ceiling that Edison failed 999 times and then succeeded 1000 times? Worse than failure is discouragement and despair. I hope you will become people of faith who do not become discouraged when they make mistakes or fail.
2. You shouldn't just sigh and regret that you did something wrong.
A person who clings to a failed past will never be a successful person or a person of great faith. Isaiah 43:18 says, "Remember the old things, and do not consider the old things; behold, I will do new things."
The devil always makes you think about the past and makes you cling to the bad past. Why are people crazy? Most of them cling to the past and think about it before turning back. Some people go crazy because they think about their former lover who failed in love and betrayed them, while others go crazy after failing in business and thinking about the money they lost.
Everyone! Let's not keep thinking about the failures of the past. The Apostle Paul said, “Forgetting what is behind and running towards the goal ahead.”
Just as you wash your hands every day, wash your hands frequently, wash away the bad memories and forget them.
If you feel frustrated, open your chest and take a deep breath
If your soul cries, look at the Word of God.
Don't cling to the failed past. Don't remember or even think about the old things. God is doing new things.
3. Acknowledge the facts and raise your hands before God.
The female student lamented that she wanted to cut off one of her arms, saying, “I have been attending church diligently, but now that I have sinned,” she lamented. She was full of repentance. What a beautiful heart. Through repentance, you can become beautiful.
When we fail, we should not make excuses or blame others by blaming others for “who made this happen, or what made us this way.”
When God asked Adam, “Why did you eat of the forbidden fruit?” He blamed it on “because of Eve you gave me.” When he asked Eve, he rationalized and made excuses because it was because of the serpent that God had created. This is a bad habit. .
When Jonah disobeyed God and went in the wrong direction, he met a storm and frankly admitted that it was his fault. Lift me up and throw me into the sea, and the sea will be calm for you. When you confess frankly that I know it is mine that you met this storm, you live, and the others who were in the boat live.
When Saul sinned, he made excuses, transferred responsibility, and blamed himself, but eventually fell
King David honestly confessed, repented, and asked for forgiveness, so he became a king pleasing to God. Dear all! If you make excuses or blame yourself when you fail and commit a crime, the opportunity of blessing will not come again.
As long as we have life, there is hope. A truly great man is not the one who never fails, but the one who rises again from failure. Please believe that God, who gave Jonah, who repented, a chance to carry out the mission of saving Nineveh, will give people of faith as many opportunities as possible. People of faith should know that suffering is not despair but a new opportunity.
The miracle of Oh Byeong-Eye was also a miracle that a large number of people ate and leftovers due to the dedication of a child when everyone was starving in the bean fields.
The widow of Zarephath said that it was the last handful of flour left in the three years and six months of the drought, but when Elijah was rescued with it, the flour and oil did not stop until the drought was over.
Isaac, who had fled to Gerar because of a famine, did not look at the dry sky and the burning desert, but planted and nurtured the crops according to the farmer's mission, and the yield increased a hundredfold that year, and when he refused, the Philistines were envious.
That's right. For people of faith, we need to know that a crisis is an opportunity. Are you struggling and struggling and failing? Do you think I'm wrong? Do you regret it? Acknowledge yourself like Jonah and ask Him before God. God does a new thing for us. We need to know the sign of God right away. Like Jonah, you have to realize quickly. If you pretend you don't do it, don't you do it?
When problems arise, do not become discouraged, do not complain and try to make excuses, understand what God's will is, repent humbly, and do not lose the opportunity God gives you again. I pray for all the saints who overcome hardships with faith and rise up by accepting the crisis as an opportunity for blessing from God.
