Content Title: In a little bit
Bible: John 16:16-22
(Hebrews 11:1) “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen” Living by faith is those who see by faith and those who hear by faith. Those who see us from a different angle from the world, those who see with faith, hear with faith, and speak with faith. Jesus gathers his beloved disciples in Mark's upper room and tells them like a will. There are the same repeated words in this verse. The word “in a little while” appears 7 times in today’s text alone, the word sorrow 4 times, and the word joy 5 times. If we put them together, it says, “In a little while, sorrow will become joy.” You must become a person who lives with this belief.
First: I will see the Lord.
“A little while, and you will not see me, and in a little while you will see me” (verse 16). In a little while, Jesus will die on the cross. However, to see me in a little while means that you will see the glorious Lord again by resurrecting on the third day as you said. That is, he delivered a clear message about the cross and resurrection. While looking forward to the glory of the resurrection in God's high economy, Jesus goes toward the cross. He comforted the disciples that sorrow, pain, and mourning would come to them as a result, and He told them that they would overcome those hardships.
Second: It will be a joy.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will be sad, but your sorrow will turn into joy” (verse 20). The deeper the suffering, the greater the glory. The belief of “in a little while” is that everything passes in a moment. In Greek, this little bit means micro in English. It's a very, very small thing. The hardships that come into our lives are not great, but when you know them, they are small.
Third: I will remember no more.
“When a woman gives birth, she is sad because the hour has come, but when she gives birth to a child, she does not remember the pain anymore for the joy of being born into the world” (verse 21). It is God's principle that joy swallows up pain. The baby was the cause of the pain, but when the baby was delivered and welcomed, the pain disappeared and became joy. If we know that pain is the seed of joy, we should pray that pain becomes the seed of joy. This is the prayer of a mature Christian. We must believe that the miracles promised by God and the works of blessings can be accomplished only after suffering hardships.
