“It is all yours.”
(1 Chronicles 29:10-17)
Today's text is David's confession of thanksgiving.
Through David, we want to receive grace along with what kind of confession of faith we should keep for Thanksgiving.
First, let's make a confession of faith that everything belongs to God.
The word David most often expresses in the text is “the Lord’s.” Verse 11 says, "The greatness and the power and the glory and the triumph and the honor are yours. Everything in heaven and on earth is yours. This kingdom is yours too." The greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty all belong to the Lord. The same goes for verse 16. Some people think that what they have for a while and enjoy is really theirs. It does not acknowledge the possession of God, the true owner. It's a terrifying illusion. Everything belongs to God.
Second, let's make a confession of faith that we give what the Lord has given us.
It's in the middle of verse 14. “All things have been given to us by the Lord, so we have given to Him what we have received from His hand.” Also in verse 16 we read, "All these things that we have prepared to build the temple of the Lord for your holy name are from the Lord, and all belong to the Lord." When I think that everything comes from God, I become free. When I think that health, material things, or fame, everything comes from God's hand, I am freed, but when I think that it is mine, attachment is excessive and greed enters. When you think it belongs to God, you have a sense of stewardship and manage it well.
Third, let's give it as a confession of faith with an honest heart.
David confesses in verse 17 that God delights in honest people, so he also offers himself with an honest heart. Thanksgiving is not just a festival to offer material things, but a day to honestly and honestly confess our faith. It is a day to offer your heart, material, and body with your confession of faith. We should also give thanks with an honest heart and keep Thanksgiving with a confession, so that it can bring joy and glory to God. Indeed, as David confessed, all of us belong to the Lord. I wish you a bountiful Thanksgiving with acknowledgment, giving thanks for the Lord's, and an honest confession of faith.
