Because the title time was shortened
content br>
“I say these things, brethren, because the time is shortened, and from then on, those who have wives do as those who do not, and those who weep as those who do not weep, those who rejoice as those who are unhappy, those who buy and sell as those who do not have, and use worldly goods Let them all be like those who cannot use it, for the traces of this world are passing away” (1 Corinthians 7:29-31).
Therefore, these words are absolutely necessary for “the saints of the last days”. Paul called people of faith “brothers.” Brotherhood is a term used by people who have the same father. Brothers are like blood. So brother. Saints are brothers too. Because the father is the same and blood is the same. The Father of the saints is God the Father. The blood of the saints is the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus flows through every soul of the saints. It was because of that blood that sins were forgiven and we were saved.
Paul first brings out the darkness about “time” to himself and the beloved saints who are brothers in Christ. he says
“Because the times were shortened” (1 Corinthians 7:29).
The literal meaning of this verse is “because time is short.” In other words, it means “the time is running out”. Why? This is because even in the days of Paul, it was already the last days. This is because, as already mentioned in this book about the last days, the coming of our Jesus was the signal of the beginning of the “last days”. Although we do not know how many years have passed since the beginning of earth history and human history, the Bible says that the coming of Jesus came at the end of the world.
“In the last days of all these days he has spoken to us as a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made all the worlds” (Hebrews 1:2).
“Then he must have suffered often from the creation of the world, but now he has appeared at the end of the world to take away sin by the sacrifice of himself once for all” (Hebrews 9:26).
Paul, a man of God, said that he and his people had already met “the last days”. He writes:
“These things that happened to them are a mirror, and are written as our watchfulness in the last days” (1 Corinthians 10:11)
The world is running out of time. If a man of God wrote this under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit more than 1900 years ago, how about now? The time of the world is less than that of Paul's time. The time was shortened according to the Bible.
What principle of life should we live at this time near the coming of Jesus? Paul taught three principles through the Word.
Principle 1: Live detached from people
The Bible records it this way.
“From now on, those who have wives act as if they did not” (1 Corinthians 7:29).
This means that you should not be bound by people or live as slaves to them. This is because if you live in bondage or slavery to people, you will not be able to effectively use the short amount of time that is left and serve the Lord properly. Of course, this does not mean that husbands should be indifferent to or abandon their wives. The Bible instructs husbands to love their wives as they love their own bodies, and to love as Jesus gave himself for the church.
“Living detached from people” does not mean avoiding or giving up on responsibilities and obligations in human relationships and not fulfilling one's original obligations. It is to do all your responsibility, but don't be enslaved mentally and spiritually like people's slaves. God does not want His children to be enslaved by men, redeeming their hearts and souls.
We must not be enslaved by people and live with our hearts ripped and our souls dispersed. What strange things will happen if the saints who are living in these last days, longing for the Lord's return, become enslaved or enslaved to their wives? If the wife decides to stop serving Jesus and wants her husband to do what she wants, wouldn't a husband who is not detached from his wife and is enslaved will follow his wife? If so, how can that husband properly serve Jesus who will come again? The same is true for a wife who is subordinate to her husband, and the same applies to parents who are not detached from their children. If a believer who is an office worker fails to detach himself from his boss and lives in a shackle life, that person will also not be able to properly serve Jesus who will come again. The same is true if you live without detachment from people who have caused great harm and pain to yourself or who have given you great benefits and joy.
“If anyone who comes to me does not hate his father and mother, wife and wife, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple, and anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14: 26-27)
“He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:37).
That's right. The time has been shortened. Time is running out. From then on, those who have wives must live as those who do not have them. No one can control our souls. No one can enslave our souls. Only Jesus, who will come again, can do that. We belong to Jesus who is to come again, we are His servants, and we are His slaves. We are the bride and he is our groom. The perfect bride belongs only to the groom.
Principle 2: Live detached from your emotions.
The Bible is saying.
“Those who weep as those who do not weep, and those who rejoice as those who do not rejoice” (1 Corinthians 7:30).
There is a saying that people live by mood and die by mood. There is a saying that man is an emotional animal. This means that people are easily enslaved by their emotions. Emotions have a huge impact on people. Emotions quickly and easily rule a person's mind, and it is easy for a person to speak and act by emotion. Man is joy, sorrow, anger, love, hate, displeasure… We live by repeating these emotions alternately. Think in it and act in it. I laugh when I'm happy and cry when I'm sad. When I'm angry, I get angry. When you feel love, you love. But the Bible says.
“Those who weep as those who do not weep, and those who rejoice as those who do not rejoice.”
What does this mean? Are you saying that we should live without emotions? no. Jesus wept too. Paul was happy too. The meaning of this verse is to “live detached from your emotions.” It means that you should not become a slave to your emotions and live according to your emotions. It means not to think, speak, or act according to the feelings you have in your heart. What would happen if a saint met a sad event and had a sad feeling and lived as a slave to sorrow? He will develop serious mental dissonance. Eventually, he will leave Jesus. Because you will think that Jesus gave you that sad thing, and you will fall into deep doubt and resentment as to why Jesus would not have prevented the sad thing that would appear to you. What would it be like to live as a slave to joy? He, too, will not be able to serve Jesus properly. Because the life of serving the Lord is a life of suffering physically and mentally, but he seeks only joy. He will refuse to suffer for the Lord.
What would it be like to live as a slave to anger? That person, too, will not be able to lead a proper life of faith. If you do what your anger tells you, will you not become vicious and lead a life of anger all the time? You might eventually get a vase and self-destruction. Don't let your emotions swallow you up. Don't let your emotions destroy the order of your life to serve the Lord. The fruit of the Spirit is self-control. The believer's life of faith is not a life lived according to one's feelings. A life of faith is a life lived according to the words of Jesus.
It is a life of thinking and acting according to the teachings of Jesus. Do not mix your feelings with the words of Jesus. Let the word be pure as it is. And live by the word. If we live enslaved to our emotions, we cannot properly establish a spiritual relationship with God, and as a result, we cannot fully serve our Lord who will come again. If we do not become slaves to our emotions and live detached from our emotions, we can live a blessed life of obedience to the Word and we will be able to meet Jesus in a glorious way.
No emotion of any kind should make you your king. Because your King is Jesus who will come again. The time has been shortened. Time is running out. Those who weep must live as those who do not weep, and those who rejoice must live as those who do not rejoice. Victory over sorrow, triumph over joy.
Principle 3: Live detached from wealth and possessions.
The Bible says:
“Let those who buy and sell act as if they had none, and those who use the goods of the world as if they had no use for them, for the traces of this world are passing away” (1 Corinthians 7:30-31).
Those who buy and sell are those who have money to buy and those who have things to sell. Those who use the things of the world are those who own the things to use. There is no one living on this land who is not involved in trade. Also, there is no one in the world who does not own things for use. A person who refuses to engage in the sale or use of the world cannot live for a moment in the world. The Word did not forbid buying or forbidding at all. We have to buy and sell and have things to use. What does this mean? This verse means not to live as a slave to wealth and possessions. This means that we should not be obsessed with worldly things.
It means to live without greed. It means to be content with what you have and live with gratitude. It's saying don't love money. A life detached from wealth and possessions is not a life in which you do not work to earn money, a life in which you do not own anything, and a life in which you do not save. Work hard and earn money. We also buy the things we need. Saving for the future. But my heart and soul are not bound by the money I earned, the things I bought, or the money I saved. If the saints live as slaves to wealth and possessions, they will not be able to properly serve Jesus who will come again. Because, is he unconscionable for wealth and possessions?/td>
