Believe in the triumph of justice

2 Kings (27) Believe in the triumph of justice

(2 Kings 11: 1-21)

<The rebellion of Athaliah and the restoration of Joash>

When Ahaziah, the sixth king of southern Judah, went to visit Joram, the ninth king of northern Israel, and died in the midst of the revolution of Jehu, Athaliah, the mother of King Ahaziah, raised an army and killed all his descendants (verse 1). If one of his grandchildren became king, he would lose the position of Empress Dowager, so he killed him because he did not want to step down from the throne. At that time, Jehosheba, the sister of Ahaziah, the daughter of King Joram (Jehoram), saved Joash son of Ahaziah and his nanny by hiding them in a bedroom. section).

So he hid Joash for six years, and in the seventh year Jehoiada the priest called the centurions who commanded the five escorts and brought them into the temple, made a covenant with them, made them swear in the temple of the Lord, and showed them the young prince Joash (4 section). After waiting and preparing for 7 years, the time has come to restore the throne.

At that time, Jehoiada devised a strategy to escort the king on the Sabbath by occupying the temple with two guards and the palace with three guards (verses 5-8). As Jehoiada had commanded, 2 squads of guards came to Jehoiada, and Jehoiada gave the centurions the spears and shields that David had offered in the temple to commemorate the victory (verses 9-10). The centurions and guards must have been full of morale with a sense of justice that they were given a spear and a shield bearing the traces of King David's victory, and felt a sense of emptiness and went on to restore the legitimacy of the Davidic dynasty.

When the guards had finished preparing the guards, Jehoiada took Joash out, crowned him, gave him the book of the law, and anointed him king. The guards and the people gathered there applauded and shouted, “Long live the king!” (verses 11-12). ). Hearing the cry, Athaliah ran to the temple, saw the scene, tore her clothes, and cried. “Treason! It is treason! (verses 13-14)” Then he is killed while fleeing to the palace (verses 15-16).

After leaving, Jehoiada led the way to establish a new covenant between the king and the people (verse 17). And after destroying the Baal shrine, he led the king down from the temple and reached the palace where the three guards had already been guarded. Finally, as Joash sat on the throne, the event was perfectly successful and the political situation was easily stabilized because the cause was clear (verses 19-20). . So Joash was seven years old when he became king (verse 21). As such, justice is bound to triumph.

< Believe in the triumph of justice >

It's complicated when you look at the reality around you now. All too often we see a reality where justice is defeated by evil, as the evil Athaliah savagely slaughters the helpless young descendants of the Davidic family. So people say. “Strength is justice.” The strong use the power of the majority, material, and power for their own gain. What's even more absurd is doing so, packaging it with justice. Then, because they are tired, lonely, and sad, many people turn to the idea that “strength is justice!”

Looking at such realities, even those with strong faith lose their pulse for a short time. What is the solution? Some people give up because it is difficult to achieve justice in this world and simply wait eagerly for the return of Jesus. “Maranatha (Come, Lord Jesus)!” However, while eagerly awaiting the day of Jesus' return, when complete justice will be accomplished, believers must take on the role of a morning star that illuminates the darkness in their place so that justice can be accomplished. The day will come when the truth will surely follow, and just as love will surely save the soul, the day will come when justice will surely come true.

Believe in the triumph of justice. If justice is defeated, there is no God and life becomes garbage. But God lives and life is not garbage. Discrimination, prejudice, oppression, and the darkness of war cannot stop the dawn of justice. No matter how dark the world today, darkness will one day disappear. So the day will surely come when the wounded justice will rise above the wounds, shake off the dust of disgrace, and rise to the top.

Act with the belief that justice always triumphs. A just world does not come by itself. Justice is achieved when we pray and prepare with a sense of problem and vocation, and finally take action with courage. Even a precious dream becomes a dog dream of a midsummer night if you do not act, but if you act, your precious dream will come true. A person of faith is a person who takes action for God's will and justice when it seems that there is not much that can be done.

Beliefs that act for justice are expressed in different ways for each person. For some saints, it is expressed by kicking off the desk with a sense of problem, but for some saints, it is expressed by attaching the buttocks to the desk with a sense of problem. For example, if politicians, businessmen, and lawyers are the problem, studying hard to become good politicians, businessmen, and lawyers is also a belief in action. With such an act of faith, wipe the tears of many and drive the triumph of justice.
