Beware of your words and exalt your words
<Let your words be wise>
Solomon challenges ‘wise words’ with a concluding message. ‘Seeking beautiful words’ has a lot to do with ‘the word of truth’ (verses 9-10). Some spiritualists, ignoring the beautiful words that they have meditated on, prayed, studied, and crafted are human words, claiming that they are improvised words that they just spit out their thoughts as the words given by the Holy Spirit. So, how often are the words misleading, caricatures, and wrong interpretations of the Bible appear? However, the more the words of the Holy Spirit are given, the more deeply we should meditate on them, the more we should think about them, and the more we should make them into beautiful words.
Through constant meditation and study, Solomon obtained many beautiful words. The proverbs that he meditated on deeply and came up with were beautiful words of deep wisdom that were built at that time 3,000 years ago. It is now the Bible.
Solomon did not claim that his improvised words were from the Holy Spirit. On the other hand, if someone claims that the Holy Spirit has given them while using words and expressions that they shouldn't, how much heartache would the Holy Spirit feel? If you fail to speak properly and wisely and say, “The Holy Spirit has given me these words,” it could be a serious sin against the 3rd commandment, “You shall not take the name of God in vain!”
< cherish your words >
Be careful with your words and be wise. As your spirituality deepens so that there are fewer mistakes in words, meditate more carefully, learn, study, and master the truth so that the word of truth becomes the center of your language life. Go further and live up to the word. Power is also revealed where the Word is exalted and the Word is carefully heard. The Word works like a 'piercing whip' or a 'nail with a piercing' (verse 11). Sometimes the words pierce my heart and I feel uncomfortable. Such discomfort is not necessarily a bad thing. If you accept the bitter medicine of the Word as a good medicine, you will have a blessed life from then on.
Also, at the end of verse 11, “All of them were given by one shepherd” means that his own words were the words of the Lord. In other words, it implies that although he researched and crafted a beautiful word, it is a word full of inspiration from God. As Solomon speaks these words, he challenges himself to live by exalting the word.
Nowadays, people are awakening anew about the power of words. It will be as you say. Then say affirmations, words of encouragement, and words of success. If you want to raise your child as a character, the most important factor is the positive words of parents. Say this a lot. “You become a character. you are special God loves you.” Then it will be as it is. It goes without saying how powerful the Word is if it is so powerful. When you exalt the Word to the highest level, you are exalted to the highest level.
<Live obedience to the word>
Look at verse 12 of the text. “Again, be warned, my son, that the making of many books is endless, and studying much is weary of the body.” These words are like the gospel for students who do not want to study. However, this is not to say that you should not study and not read books. It means to study and read books, not in vain ways, but rightly. In other words, we need to know God, the source of life, and base our studies on God's will.
In life, you have to constantly choose between two sides. One is on the side of understanding, the other is on the side of misunderstanding. Which side should I choose? Always be on the good side, the desirable side, the upbuilding side, and the love side. Life is a choice. The choices you make make a significant difference in your quality of life. Above all, stand on the side of the Word and try to live according to the Word. It is the most important duty of man to fear God and live according to the word of God (verse 13).
Abandon materialism and successism. If you cling to material things and success, even if you get them, you will not be satisfied, and you will fall into suffering and loneliness more than being judged through the emptiness of your heart before God's judgment. Now confess this. "God! May I not love the world more than God! So, instead of being absorbed in possessions, let me live as God’s own!” If you live with such a confession, regardless of whether you have it or not, you will be filled with satisfaction and gratitude, and then the grace of God that judges every action and every secret thing, good or evil, will overflow.
