blessings passed down
(2007.02.11. Week) (Judges 3:9)
Everyone wants bad things to end quickly in their time.
But good things last for a long time, and we want to enjoy them for generations to come.
This is true even if you look at the genealogy that tells the origin of our country.
If there was a traitor or a common man among our ancestors, it will be destroyed without leaving a trace.
However, if one of the ancestors enters a post, they say what is the name of that post, and even after hundreds of thousands of years, the name of the post of that ancestor is proud. - It's a natural thing.
Dear saints, then, do you not want to pass on good things, beautiful things, and blessings to your descendants?
No one wants to pass on the curse. Everyone will want to pass on their blessings.
What does the bible say? Let's find out.
(Exodus 20:5b-6)-“…I pay for the sins of those who hate me, from father to son to the third and fourth generations; but to those who love me and keep my commandments I will show grace to a thousand generations. Give” - Amen!!
If you make a mistake, you can pass on the curse to your descendants to the third and fourth generations.
However, if hopefully, it can surely pass down grace and blessings to thousands of descendants.
He promised Abraham a blessing, and he truly enjoyed that blessing until a thousand generations of Abraham's descendants.
All of the members of Kyungil Church are blessed, but I pray that they will become precious saints who pass on blessings not only to the present generation but also to thousands of descendants.
1. Caleb planted the seed of blessing.
Today, we want to take a look at the beautiful history of Caleb, a man who was loved and blessed by God, and passed on that blessing to his descendants.
① Caleb is a man who is faithful to God with certain faith.
There was something God had planned. It was a plan to give the land of Canaan to the Israelites.
In order to fulfill that plan, God sent 12 spies to search for Canaan.
At that time, 10 people turned away from God's plan and made an unbelievable report, making the people discouraged.
But Caleb spoke with Joshua - only by faith, only words that were in line with God's plan.
God told us to go there, so when we go in there, God will let us in.
They reported that the land was truly beautiful because it was the land that God would give them (Numbers 14:8). - Caleb was loved by God because of his trust in God and his trust in God.
Please believe that certain faith, certain will, and certain loyalty are the seeds of blessing. - I pray that you, like Caleb, plant the seeds of blessing with faith.
② Those who have been recognized and praised by God.
Let's listen to the words of God, looking at Caleb, who worked hard to accomplish God's will by faith alone.
(Numbers 14:24) - "But my servant Caleb has a different heart and has followed me completely; I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will possess it" - Amen!!
Caleb was recognized by God as a believer who completely followed God and received praise. - To be recognized by God is to sow the seeds of blessing.
③ A believer who has been promised the fruit of blessing.
I will bring you in, and your descendants will possess the land - Amen!!
God knows everyone's life. Please keep in mind that if you disobey God, even the third or fourth generations will be cursed, and if you trust and be faithful to God, you will be blessed to thousands of descendants.
The seed that reaps the fruit of blessing is complete faith and loyalty.
2. Othniel reaping the fruit of blessing.
Othniel became a judge who ruled the country for 40 years before a king was established in Israel. A judge was like a king at the time. Therefore, Othniel was a man who lived his whole life as a king for 40 years. He is a person who has been greatly blessed. What kind of person did Othniel receive such a great blessing?
① He is a person who reaped the fruit of the blessing that Caleb sowed.
Othniel became Caleb's son-in-law, and he was especially loved by his father-in-law Caleb.
Caleb was faithful to God with complete faith and sowed the seeds of blessing - Othniel, the son-in-law who was especially loved by Caleb, reaped ten times the blessing.
Please believe that the descendants of those who live with perfect faith will receive special blessings.
If you want your descendants to be blessed, please sow the seeds of faith and loyalty like Caleb.
The seeds you sow will make your descendants special like Othniel.
② He is also a person who has been blessed with the seeds he planted.
However, people of faith should not be complacent with the belief that their descendants will be blessed through my faith.
We must not forget that there was Canaan, the son of Hamui who was cursed even though he was a descendant of Noah, and Absalom who was the son of David who was also cursed.
Othniel received great blessings and became the first judge, of course, because he was Caleb's son-in-law, but also because he planted a seed of greater blessing himself.
Becoming Caleb's son-in-law was not for free. - The position of the son-in-law of Caleb was obtained by himself.
Caleb has recruited a vanguard ahead of the war - who will go to war and stand in the vanguard? At that time, Othniel volunteered and fought hard, captured Kirjath-zebel, and became Caleb's son-in-law.
It is a blessing to have met the ancestors of faith, but you will receive great blessings only if you believe in yourself.
If you want your descendants to be blessed - I hope you not only sow the seeds of blessing well, but also guide your descendants to become fully believers in faith.
I pray that you will sow the seeds of faith and loyalty abundantly, and your descendants will continue to sow the seeds of faith and loyalty so that you may receive abundant blessings.
3. Othniel's blessing.
What blessings did Othniel receive, who had a great father of faith and was loyal to himself by faith?
Let's read today's text aloud together.
“The children of Israel cried out to the LORD, and the LORD raised up a deliverer for the children of Israel to save them, who is Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's brother.” - Amen!
* As he inherited the faith of his ancestor Caleb and was faithful from generation to generation, he gave glory to his family.
* Being the first judge of a nation and becoming the best leader, I myself enjoyed the glory.
* You have given peace by saving a suffering nation - Glory to the nation.
* He became a judge and saved the nation and served the rest of his life. It was a mission entrusted to him by God, and he glorified God.
A person who has been glorified by himself, glorifies his family, glorifies the nation, and glorifies God, isn't he the most blessed person?
I wish you and your descendants the same blessing.
What do you pass on to your children so that they may prosper?
Of course, if you can, you will be better than those who don't, if you can give them a lot of cash, give them a lot of real estate, give them a big business, and give them a lot of education. If you can, please do so.
But bigger and more sure seed of blessing - I pray that you will plant many seeds of blessing that are more reliable than any other insurance and pass it on to your descendants. It is full faith and complete allegiance.
I sincerely pray that all of you will be faithful with perfect faith, and that you will be blessed by teaching your descendants complete faith and loyalty.
