main text ; Romans 12:2
A few years after graduating, students who graduated from a famous women's university in Seoul had a classmate meeting at a tea house.
Friend: "Oh, Seon-hee! What are you doing?"
Seonhee: "What's wrong, what's wrong?"
Friend: "That's right! There are still ten more minutes until the appointment time, but wouldn't Lao Tzu be surprised that you showed up so quickly?"
It was true. But it wasn't like that from the beginning. It was a habit that started when Seon-hee was in high school, or when Seon-hee dated the man she met at the first meeting for three months. Seon-hee's friends always said that it's good to make a man wait a little while on a date, and Seon-hee felt the same way.
So, Seon-hee's habit of coming out later than the scheduled appointment time was not easily corrected after that. Friends later took it for granted that she was late for an appointment.
Friend: "By the way, Seon-hee, you seem to have changed a bit!"
Seonhee: "Child, what does change change, just like you"
Friend: "No, I think something has changed."
Friend: "That's right, I think I've been getting the feeling that Seon-hee isn't what it used to be!"
The friends announced the surprising fact that Seon-hee came out ten minutes earlier than the scheduled time, and they looked at Seon-hee again and exchanged words like this.
Friend: "Well ... But Seon-hee's expression seems to have become a little more docile. Besides, the habit of unnecessarily flirting with others seems to have disappeared. Is this all due to her age?"
Then all the friends turned their faces toward Seon-hee, saying that they would see Seon-hee again. Then, playfully stabbing Seon-hee here and there, he laughed. Then Seon-hee said.
Seonhee: "Ah- It seems like you have changed, so I really have changed. But I am the same!"
Friend: "No, this is a big change. It starts with the fact that you kept your appointment time. How much did you tease us in the old days by saying that it was a habit? But when you graduate and move away from us, how do you change that habit? "
Seonhee: "I don't know. Actually, I often hear that I'm a bit sensitive, and I also hear a lot of hate about having a princess disease, didn't I? So I thought. Let's make it new. But after changing the habit, I think my personality has changed a bit. I feel a little more relaxed, and I seem to get along easily with people!"
Then the friends nodded their heads at the same time.
Friend: "That's it. I think people have changed, too. That's for the better."
At this, all the friends smiled and nodded in approval. Of course, Seon-hee did not hate the reactions of her friends.
Guys, sometimes people say something like this. "Leave it. Do you want to live and die like this!" In other words, this declaration that he would give up his stubborn personality and live was popular in Korea for a while. Of course, even now, there are still people who occasionally blow such sloppy comments.
However, this self-abandonment is a self-destructive and self-destructive act that blows away the opportunity to change one's personality. Of course, it's true that personality doesn't change easily, but that doesn't mean it's better to get rid of the idea that personality is something that can't be changed.
In other words, the personality can be sufficiently changed. And personality is closely related to habits. Just as a personality once formed does not change easily, it is for this reason that a habit once formed does not change easily. Therefore, it would be good to know that if you change your habits, you will also change your personality.
In other words, one of the best ways to change your personality is to change your habits. Especially try to fix what people around you say is a bad habit. And if you successfully break those habits, you'll see that your personality has changed just as much.
I had four high school classmates from high school, college, and even after graduating from college, I always met and became close. One of my friends went to Seoul National University and always pretended a lot in front of us. Of course, our friends also admitted that he knew a lot.
However, among those four friends, I had a friend who went to Sogang University and was very docile, relaxed, and much handsomer than me. So many of his friends liked him, and especially the girls followed him. But this friend had a very bad habit that no one else knew about.
If you drink too much, your usual docile personality disappears and you become like the Hulk. That's why his handsome appearance changes like a thug, and his language and swear words come out without mercy. And those who knew this unstoppable appearance regarded him as a person to avoid.
But one day, three friends, who were missing me and another friend, got into an accident while drinking. A friend from Seoul National University pretended to be a bit arrogant at a drinking party, and the bad habit of this friend from Sogang University came out. Just like a gangster wielding violence, this friend said to a friend at Seoul National University, "What the hell, nigga!" and wielded violence without mercy.
No matter how hard he tried to cover the wound he was beaten by his friend at a drinking party, he couldn't cover it. Eventually, his parents found out about this. However, this Sogang University friend had no idea what he had done or whether he had been drinking and beating his friend.
In other words, in the world's words, the film was cut off due to alcohol. As a result, the friendship between the friend, the perpetrator, and another friend, the victim, was broken and the relationship ended.
After that, this friend, who had such a bad habit, deeply repented of his bad habit and stopped drinking. And by kneeling down on one knee and apologizing to the other's parents and friends a hundredfold, friendship was restored again.
Everyone, think about it. We also get along very well with Jesus, who is our friend, but sometimes bad habits or bad personalities formed out of it came out without realizing it, making Jesus sad, didn't it? And what would you do if you knew your own bad side?
"Leave it. Do you want to live and die like this! Who touches me? Do whatever you want!" Will you live a life of disappointing Jesus and giving up on yourself to the end? Or will you make a new resolution today to change your bad habits and personality, and will you struggle to make a better change?
Gentlemen, our God is the God of those who ask, the God of those who seek, and the God of those who knock. As you and I continue to strive, pray, and struggle to change ourselves for the better, God is the one who transforms us for the good, let it go, or for self-pride or narcissism. If you fall in love and give up your own change, God will not work for such a person.
There is a parable like this. Two frogs fell into the hot water. But one of them died and the other lived. Why? The contents are as follows. A frog fell into a pot full of hot water. Then the frog said, "Oh, it's hot!" and immediately ran out.
But the water, where another frog was missing, wasn't that hot at first. Rather, a moderately warm one felt like the lower neck. What's more, the farmer turned down the fire so that the pot warmed up slowly.
The frog then ignored that slight temperature change. And this frog will say, "It's nice here...!" until the water boils. and sat still in the pot. And the frog was cooked whole.
Guys, Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, said this. "Let's change. Otherwise, we will change." That is, only those who constantly develop and change themselves into a better shape can survive.
Therefore, today's text of the Bible also says this. ?쏡o not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, which is good and acceptable and perfect??(Romans 12:2).
Ladies and gentlemen, in the new year of 2004, each of us must be a change. I need to know what God wants me to be and struggle to change myself.
As a believer, bad habits must be changed into good habits, and bad habits must not give up, and we must make efforts to change into good ones. And we must change our bad attitudes, actions, and words into good attitudes, good actions, and good words that are pleasing to God.
Once upon a time, under Alexander the Great, there was a pawn with the same name as Alexander. However, because of his poor behavior, speech, and life, the pawn was given the name Alexander at random. When Alexander the Great heard this news, he visited the barracks where the soldier was without notice.
And to the pawn, Alexander, who was saluting in terror, Alexander the Great said: "Are you Alexander?" "Yes, it is." "I command you two things. Change your name. If you don't want to change your name, change your life."
Ladies and gentlemen, what if Jesus Christ, the King of kings, commands us this way? "Are you a Christian? I command you two things. Change your name. If you don't want to change your name, change your life."
Gentlemen, Christianity is a religion of change. Bitter water turns into sweet water, fresh water turns into wine, the wicked turn into the righteous, curses turn into blessings, death turns into life, filth turns into clean, the world turns into holiness. It is Christianity that has the power.
Therefore, it is our Christians who have experienced the power of such transformation, and it is me and you who struggle and struggle to be transformed into the image of the Lord every day.
Everyone, would you say, "It's nice to live like this in a foreign land in Canada, but what do you need a change for? Just leave it alone. I want to live and die my way like this!"? Or, "Lord, today I want to be a change. Transform me into the holy form you want and please!" And will you run on the Lord?
Even though you and I are busy living in this foreign land, if we are truly Christians, shouldn't we change every day? And to change like Jesus is our life's homework and our mission, isn't it?
Let each of us be a change in this new year of 2004. Let us transform ourselves through the word of the Lord and prayer. And through the changed us, let's fulfill the Lord's holy will to make the kingdom of heaven beautiful on this earth.
