come over and help us
Acts 16:6-10
What is the church's mission?
What is the mission of the saints?
It is God's mission. God's mission is to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth and to expand the kingdom of God.
Our Youngsaeng Church is doing its best to carry out its mission to participate in God's mission. We are doing our best to fulfill the mission of evangelism to save one soul.
In addition, we are striving for service ministry for God's mission in the local community, cultural ministry, and the ministry of a healthy church for the local community.
Furthermore, for the mission of the mission to the ends of the earth, overseas mission sites are selected for short-term missions, and missionaries and mission fields are supported.
So far, about 40 churches, mission fields, and social service support ministries are being carried out.
Then, with God's grace, I felt the need for continuous and intensive missionary work, and while praying, the road for missionary work in India was opened. I believe that all of these are God's grace and blessings that lead us into a beautiful plan. Let me tell you the biblical background that led us to start missions to India.
Paul, who was converted after meeting the resurrected Lord, was a great evangelist who lived a missionary-minded life and fulfilled the mission of evangelism to the ends of the earth. He was martyred while preaching the gospel in Rome, the center of the world, after three missionary journeys. This is when Paul plans his second missionary trip again after finishing his first missionary journey.
The Apostle Paul was praying while planning his second missionary journey.
It was Asia that he had in mind and prayed for. But the Holy Spirit did not answer. He wants to go to Asia. But the Spirit of Jesus blocks it and does not allow it.
But at night a vision appeared to Paul. A Macedonian man stands up and calls out to him and says, “Come over and help us”
After seeing this vision, Paul realized that God was calling us to preach the gospel to those people. And, giving up the will of the Asian mission that he wanted to go to, he obeyed God's call and left for the second mission in Macedonia. This made the evangelization of Europe possible today. Through the words of the text, we looked at the five principles of mission.
1. All missions are done by God.
However, we are merely instruments of God's mission. And it is truly a wonderful grace and blessing that we become the instruments of God.
2. The first thing we need to do for missions is to pray.
The reason we need to pray is to understand God's will. When we pray, we can know God's plan. Because if we do not pray, we may lose God's will by insisting on our wrong plans. This is because the subject of mission is God, and we are only the instruments to be used.
3. After praying, we must obey.
Through prayer, we come to understand God's good plan and will. And all we have to do is to be thoroughly obedient. Obedience is completely giving up on our will and holding on to God's will.
4. Obedience should be unified obedience, obedience with all.
Silas and Timothy, hearing Paul's realization, accepted Paul's obedience as their own. There was a shared obedience. Each of them had their own thoughts and intentions, but they all obeyed together following the obedience of the leader Paul.
5. After obedience, we must work hard in anticipation of God's missionary fruit.
Verse 10 says, “After Paul had this vision, we endeavored to leave for Macedonia immediately.” Who are we? All those who are obedient to be with Paul. The fact that they worked hard is that they put their sweat and devotion into it.
The reason we are able to build a center in the missionary field in India is because we have been collecting donations for the golden incense burner for two years. Thankfully, many saints donated with joy. Some people who realized the purpose of donating the gold incense burner donated 10 million won without knowing it. We also donate 5 million won and put our best devotion into it.
Evangelism is done by God. We should rejoice and give thanks for being used by God's mission. Because this is a wonderful grace and blessing.
The first thing we need to do for missions is prayer. Through prayer, we can know what God's will is.
After realizing the will of God, we must obey. You must completely lay down your own will and obey God's will.
And that obedience must be a consistent obedience. It should be obedience in which the whole community participates. It must also be an obedience that reflects one's sweat, tears, and devotion.
God's mission is to bear fruit like this.
While praying and preparing for the Indian mission, I met Missionary Hojin Jeong.
I was able to understand the heart of God in a short conversation. It was like the voice Paul had heard, “Come over and help us.”
And these things were carried out in consultation with the elders, and they became concrete during a trip to India last January. In the future, our church will participate in missionary work in India, starting with the construction of a mission center in India.
And now, I am trying to become a tool of God in order to bear the fruits of God's mission by helping Missionary Hojin Jeong, who is devoting himself to missionary work in good health.
I hope that we can discover God's will for us through Missionary Hojin Jeong today. And I bless you with the blessed work of realizing what God's mission is and how we can be together.
