Do as the title says/Jos 11:1~15
When Jabin king of Hazor heard the news, Jobab king Madon, King Shimron, King Axab, and (1)
and kings in the hill country in the north, and in the Arabah south of Chinnerod, in the plain, and in the heights of the stone in the west, (2)
east and west, the Canaanites, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites,
(3) They sent to the Jebusites in the hill country and to the Hivites under Mount Hermon in the land of Mizpah.
They came out with all their armies, and the people were many.
Like the multitude of sand on the seashore, with horses and chariots exceedingly numerous (4)
(5) And all these kings gathered together and came to fight against Israel, and encamped together by the waters of Merom.
The LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid because of them.
Tomorrow at this time I will hand them over before Israel to slaughter them.
Cut off the sinews on the hind feet of their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.
So Joshua and all the men went to the waters of Merom and suddenly attacked them (7).
I defeated them because the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel.
They pursued Sidon the Great and Mizreboth Maiim, and pursued them to the east as far as the Valley of Mizpah.
Killed without leaving anyone (8)
Joshua did as the LORD commanded him,
(9) He cut the tendons of the hind feet of their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.
Hazor was originally the head of all the nations.
Then Joshua returned and took Hazor and killed the king with the edge of the sword (10).
Slay all of them with the edge of the sword, and destroy them.
(11) And left no one who breathed; and Hazor was burned with fire.
Joshua captured all the cities of their kings and all their kings.
(12) They sacrificed it with the edge of the sword, utterly destroyed, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.
Only Hazor was burned by Joshua, and the cities he built on the hill
Israel not burned (13)
All the riches and livestock of these cities were taken by the children of Israel.
(14) All men were struck with the edge of the sword, and destroyed, leaving no one who had breath.
what the LORD commanded his servant Moses,
Moses commanded Joshua, and Joshua did as he did.
(15) There was nothing that the LORD had not done of all that he had commanded Moses.
God is in control of all things!
Thank you for letting me live in August.
Through the sweltering heat of summer, longing for the cold of winter and giving thanks
Thank you even more for letting me see the grains ripening.
It's a time of quiet time to get away from work and get some rest, or take a trip to the mountains and the sea.
Wherever you are, wherever you go...
'True rest' is only 'under the wings of God's grace'
Help me to become saints of faith.
Even if I take a vacation, I keep the Sunday, no matter where I go
Please help me become a member of the pillar church who thinks of worship first.
Thank you for allowing us to gracefully end the big summer events up to the middle and high school retreats.
Those who worked hard, those who supported... Please help me realize that everyone's sweat is not in vain.
We remember and pray for those who cannot attend today's worship service.
Please remember the young people who are serving in the military in this hot time.
Those living abroad and abroad, patients lying in hospital beds…
May there be tidings of peace from all of them.
I hope that wherever you are, you will live longing for worship.
Holy Sunday, hold onto me with the power of God who put the word in the mouth of a servant who lacks.
Fill me with the Holy Spirit to spread the word
The worldly sorrows of the saints will recede, diseases will be healed,
Give me a time to experience the wonderful peace of heaven.
In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
Hallelujah!
Are you hot? Summer is a hot time.
If you say "Is that so...", it's comfortable to accept.
Say hello to the people next to you by saying, "Summer, so let's buy it...".
Considering the parking guides, the choir is of high quality.
Think of the people preparing meals in the kitchen during this hot time.
Thank you.
May you have a time of worship with peace of mind and receive grace through the Word.
I bless you in the name of the Lord.
We hold the Bible high and confess our hearts.
I have been saved by believing in Jesus (John 3:16).
I believe in Jesus and become a child of God (John 1:12).
I believed in Jesus and became a people of heaven (Philippians 3:20)
Today, which God has given as a gift (Psalm 118:24),
You are taught by the word of God (2 Timothy 3:14-17).
Open your eyes to see and understand the wonderful truths in your law (Psalm 119:18).
Amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20)
May your life glorify God (Matthew 5:16).
Amen.
I wish you the best of luck with your confession.
war against many enemies
In the old war, rather than how many weapons there were
Victory and defeat often depended on the number of soldiers.
Even during the Korean War, the U.S. military mobilized airplanes,
There were many tanks and vehicles.
A large number of Chinese troops came all at once, so they had to run away.
No matter how many guns and cannons were fired, they could not stop the constant influx of Chinese troops.
It was called 'the tactics of human seas'.
The war in today's text is also a difficult battle for the Israelites.
Because it is a battle against countless enemies.
Joshua and the Israelites had a great victory south of Canaan
This time the kings of the north of Canaan were united.
Five nations were united by Adonisedek king of southern Jerusalem.
But this time, the kingdoms that Jabin king of Hazor of the north united were far more numerous than that.
If you read verses 1-3 of today's text (Joshua 11)...
Roughly counting, more than 12 kings and tribes were united.
“When Jabin king of Hazor heard this, Jobab king of Madon, King Shimron, King Axab, and
The northern mountains, and the Arabah husband of Kinnerod, and the kings in the plain, and in the west, on the high
East and West Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, and Jebusites from the mountains,
He sent messengers to the Hivites under Mount Hermon in the land of Mizpah” (Joshua 11:1-3).
How many soldiers were there, in verse 4,
“They came out with all their armies, so there were many people.
It was like the multitude of sand on the seashore, and horses and chariots were exceedingly numerous” (Joshua 11:4).
The word "sand on the beach" means there were too many to count.
However, the number of troops was not the only problem.
Among the allied forces were the 'Hetites' (verse 3).
It is recorded in Judges 1:19.
I don't know for sure if it's the same group as the 'Vale Residents' who had iron chariots.
The Hittites were the first people to use iron.
They made a wagon of iron, which is the "chariot" in verse 4.
A chariot was a vehicle, usually drawn by two horses, and was a great weapon in wartime.
War chariots were made of iron and were called 'iron chariots', and sharp swords were also driven into the axles of wheels.
When the wheel of the chariot turns, the sword also turns.
If you ride a chariot like this and run into the enemy camp, the sword will tear people to death.
It was a formidable weapon that destroyed other chariots as well.
